Ramo has performed very well against the Wolf Pack this season... I don't have the updated stats, but entering the game tonight he had only allowed 5 goals in the 3 games he played against Hartford. He had a 1.68 GAA and a 96.2% save percentage, but had a 1-2 record.

Talk about not getting support...

Dubinsky starting to score on a pretty consistent basis lately. Good to see.

Indeed, in his last 28 games:

28GP - 8G - 13A - 21P (.75 points per game)

His first 20GP

20GP - 3G - 2A - 5P (.25 points per game)

Dubi looks like he is slowly adjusting to the pro level. Next season i wouldn't be suprised to see Point a game numbers if he is playing top minutes.

Who would have thought that Byers would have more goals at this point that Dubinsky.

I'm actually glad that he has more points because I have absolute faith in Dubi and I know he'll be a gamer but what's great about Byers is that in him we may have a real grinding power forward ready to step in to the nhl!

Dubi looked real good last night..

Byers looked pretty good too, as did Korps. To a lesser extent, Isbister and Immonen also looked pretty good. On defense, I was actually impressed with Cory Potter. He wasn't laying out guys, but would use his body to protect the puck in his own zone and moved the puck nicely. Not sure if he'd be able to use his body in the NHL to protect the puck, but he seemed to play a smart game. Lampman played a good game too, as well, the defense as a whole was pretty solid.

Callahan and Dawes seemed to be quiet last night.

Fletch, how did Potter's size look? I remember watching him last year and he looked VERY skinny. Did it look like he filled out a bit more?

Watching him a month ago here in Gwinnett County he looked like he had gotten a little bigger as compared to last year, not much, just the normal increase in size as we all get older.

One of the games I saw him in this year was a blowout loss to Gwinnett. Despite the lopsided score he was on for 1 PPG, 2 men down, the rest of the night he was even or a plus one. By that I mean the PPG was the only goal against period that he was on for in an 8-2, 10-2 loss.

He has good balance on his skates, I think he has improved on his lateral movement, enough where he would do more than OK in the AHL. He is by no means a banger, but like Giradi, he playes the body when appropriate. He does have a nasty streak though. He needs another year of AHL and then I think the organization will have a better handle on his high side potential.

'Pack struggling tonight...

down 2-0 in the first with some time left - lots of penalties by the 'Pack, including being two men down. Lessard goes against Fritz after the second goal - Did well against him and took him down - Fritz is a freakin' monster!

Valiquette...

gets run and Callahan comes to his side and drops the gloves, then Lifiton comes in, then Byers drops the gloves and starts throwing some nice punches, before he got hit a few times and was overpowered and got taken down. Good action, nice passion. Dubi and Potter kind of just watched the action. Schoeny was shooting darts with his eyes at Springfield's bench.

I should add...

that it started when Potter got beat badly to the outside, but ended up being OK positionally because the Springfield player ran out of real estate and ran into Valiquette (no penalty, should've been though).

'Pack get one back...

Isbister with the tip off a weak Degon shot via a Baranka pass. The PP was looking OK, with Korps and Immonen being the other two, but wasn't anything special. The 'Pack are playing hard.

Fly...

his size has been less of a factor tonight than last night. Thought he used his size well last night. Tonight, it's been sort of a weird games, especially with all the PKs for the 'Pack, and me watching the Rangers a bit. Haven't seen too many situations where size has come into play. He does move the puck pretty well and pretty quickly. Also seems like he's being careful out there, since this is really his first AHL action.

Great shorthanded goal..

by Moore...the goal wasn't great, but the chemistry between he and Korps was, and Moore essentially had a shot at the open net.

I criticized Korps earlier, looking for the offense with the caveat that he's young, but still, he needs to start showig it - the last few games, he's been showing it. He can definitely handle the puck - very good puckhandler and skater.

'Pack lost...

Shame...'Pack dominated the play, but couldn't finish, nor could they keep the puck out of their net. Lampman took a stupid hooking penalty late in the game to negate a 'Pack PP and that basically sealed it with the 'Pack being down two goals.

Thanks Atlanta and Fletch.

Good to know that his size isn't really much of a concern and isn't hurting him (which I thought it could when I watched him back in the NCAA days).

The Good News: The Pack held the Falcons to only 3 shots in the 3rd period.
The Bad News: All 3 of those shots went in the net.

That is pathetic.

It was a joke tonight during the Ranger game they mentioned steve "softie" Valiquette over Montoya.

Montoya needs to return ASAP. You can't win games when you goalie doesn't show up or can't make routine saves.

Hell, why didn't they call up Holt to play a few... Valiquette gets burned out every other game it seems.

Zaborsky scored 2 goals yesterday night in a 7-0 blowout, he was named 2nd star of the game.

Zaborsky has been red hot as of late, in the past 12 games he has 10G - 3A - 13P.

I' m partial on Potter. I have liked him since his college days. A friend of mind is an alum of their last NCAA Championship team so I had some early info on the kid especially when my friend knew I was a NYR fans and clued me in early on him.
He is very similar to Girardi in my opinion now that I have had an opportunity to watch Girardi.

did anyone else expect a few more points out of sanguinetti? I realize that his goals are up from last year, but as of now he's scored 11 less points than games played while as he scored 3 less points than games played last year.

Has there been an improvement in his defensive play to explain this? Or is he mearly scoring less?
