Preseason GDT: 9-17, Preds at Jackets

I wonder who is making the trip? Assuming the new guys(Dumont, Arnott) and most of all, I hope Upshall and Radulov are along, as well.

Hopefully I can track down a place to listen to this online.

I'm going to the game tonight, if I'm sober enough I'll try to take notes on what your guys look like and report back

Hopefully some newer guys get some experience. Also hopefully no one gets hurt on both sides.

see this morning where vokoun evidently won't be making the trip and that mason will get the start.. this is going to be some more strange game. the team hasn't ran one pp or pk set yet in camp and here you have to go and play an exhibition game already. of course, to fans it's an exhibition game, to the teams you get the feel it's an informal scrimmage wearing game uniforms

Hopefully if it is an informal scrimmage...Zidlicky doesn't have his head down at center ice again this evening. I think it was Segal that let him off easy during Saturday's scrimmage and just knocked him down hard, but an opponent very easily could have taken advantage of the situation and drilled Zids.

I assume we will see a mix of youth and experience today. Probably be the only chance to see guys like Parent and Franson before they are sent back to juniors and maybe even a chance to see Koistinen and/or Lethonen back on the blueline. Also I'm sure we will go big on the blueline and dress Yonkman and/or Henry and even a couple of our "tough guys" to counter anything that Columbus wants to do in terms of making a statement.

TODAY IS A GREAT DAY FOR HOCKEY!!! Can't wait!

I like that lineup. Hopefully line 1 and 2 do not play tooo much, for injury purposes.

That looks about right given who was at the later practice (Arnott, Sully, Erat line definitely had some chemistry). Late practice included Tootoo, Kimmo, Nichols, TV....but don't recall seeing anyone from this list.

Those were the lines and players that worked out during the early session this morning and are scheduled to go to Columbus tonight. The rest of the players worked out later this morning in the multi-colored practice jerseys.

I'm a little disappointed that Parent nor Franson get to get into a preseason game before being sent back to juniors tomorrow (I assume...it is cut day...right?), but neither one really stood out in the scrimmages the first two days and definitely need more time in juniors before making the jump.

The Hordichuk - Smithson - Segal line looked to be having a lot of fun in practice this morning. I'm sure that the wings will take care of the dirty stuff tonight while Smithson plays his normal two-way game.

I'm going to be listening with interest tonight to see if Radulov stays out of the penalty box. Personally, I have thought during the two intersquad scrimmages that he is very active with his stick on his opponent's upper body and thought he should have picked up more minor penalties. Maybe it is just me?

Also, it will be interesting to see if Radulov and Hartnell can find the magic they had together last year at training camp and also how they mesh with Vasicek. This has been a proposed line on the messageboards for a while and it will be interesting to see how it works.

Upshall and Dumont have both looked good in camp as well and although they are playing with a center who should not be on the second line (Fiddler)...all three players will be looking to make an early impression in the first preseason game.

Geez, really wish I could be there or get some TV coverage, but that's the way it is...can't wait for the season to start!

That's what I was trying to say-- I missed the early session so I was forced to figure out who was playing tonight by seeing who wasn't at the later practice.

Trotz didn't mention when the cuts would be made, but yesterday he did mention in his press conference that he wants to get the junior players back to their teams soon so that they can focus on their upcoming seasons. Since tomorrow is an "off day" with the golf tournament, I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow is when the juniors get sent back.

Although, I know that Trotz really wants to see Sjodin out there with the club, but they're waiting on a shoulder brace to come in for him.

BTW...

Trotz said the PP lines for tonight will be:

Radulov/Vasicek/Upshall
Hartnell/Fiddler/Dumont

Rads, Ups and Vasi looked great together this morning...

also, does anyone have the internet stream for 104.5? I'd rather listen to the game with our guys, but I'll do what I have to do.
