a Higgins/ Koivu/ Latendresse line...

has imo alot more potential then a Higgins/ Koivu/ Ryder line. Latendresse is alreay as fast Ryder, he's a little better defensively and brings toughness to that line. Higgins and Ryder are the same types of player , score mostly garbage goals, they both have great wristers, with higgins playing with more hearth and a 2-way game. There's no one on our first line( whole team for that matter) to just sit like a rock in front of the net and let the talented players do there stuff. Other teams don't fear our first line at all witch is a problem. Defensmens just play the body cause all 3 forwards don't match with 6.3, 6.4 defensmen like Chara or Hatcher...
the idea of trading Ryder and Souray for someone like Johnson seems really like a good idea to make our team better. Best example is the Canucks. When Bertuzzi was playing like a real powerforward Naslund was top5 player cause he had space to shoot or pass, and then last year even with the Sedin's busting out they didn't make the play-offs cause the first line wasn't producing as much as the team needed mostly cause Bertuzzi was just crusin on the ice afraid he would hurt someone.

If Ryder bangs and crashes how he did in his rookie year he will only improve his numbers and overall game this year!

I like Latendresse, and am looking forward to him truly earning a spot... Ryder, however, just gets no respect.

How about we wait until he actually earns a spot on the team before we replace our most consistent goal scorer. Ryder isn't a perfect player but when you can score with a herniated disc all year, you get to keep your first line spot.

As for Latendresse, all I see is raw potential with alot of hype, he'll have to round out his game before he gets the call.

I would be very surprised to see Latendresse anywhere else other than 4th line when the real season begins. He might end up there some day, but it will be combination of him deserving it and something happening above him in the winger depth chart.

Latendresse isn't even signed and he's not having a great camp so far so I think it's too early to say that a Higgins/Koivu/Latendresse line would do wonders...

so having a tougher team is gay now .Ryder is a very good player but we have players now that just bring more to the table now then what he does. Higgins can replace him as a shooting winger and Latendresse provides us the powerforward we lack in our system. I wasn't necerally talking about having that line at opening game but later on, man sometimes i don't think people even read the posts before replying...

bravo

some habs fans have a wierd complex about hyping potential (specially french potential) over proof,

the kids have to "prove" them selves to first earn a freekin' spot
, then maybe if they "prove" worthy they can get that 2nd line or first line spots.

Ryder's scored 25 goals and 30 goals, in his first two NHL seasons... yet he is ALWAYS the name brought up to be on the move. It's truly grown tiresome.

and people ignore the fact that is not ae easy to score 25+ goals in NHL. we only had 2 guys that managed that in last few years. like it or not we need goals to make playoff!! we need "ryders" on first two lines

lets wait and see what higgins - saku - ryder can do

I gotta agree with the original poster... Lats is going to be hard pressed severely to get a shot on being a Montreal Canadien when the season starts...

With a forward winger unit that includes Ryder, Higgins, Samsonov, Kovalev, Johnson, A soph. Perezhogin, and possibly including Kostitsyn ahead of him as well... He already would be at the last and final spot, which someone could easily add to this that Murray, Ferland, Milroy, Downey (just to name a few) would be better suited for.

Lats IMO is going to be sent down again this year... His rumblings would have to be similar to last year... I dont think he's going to make that noise again this year... Call it a hunch, but this year IMO he develops one more year in the QMJHL with Brassard, wins another WJC gold, and joins Hamilton next year a-la Kyle Chipchura.

Can a mod please delete this childish post. I'm really sick of seeing the word 'gay' used in a derogatory way and don't think this kind of language has any place on a public message board.

If Latendresse makes the team Perezhogin is not. Ryder is here to stay and score 30 goals a year.

No doubt, I'll never understand why Ryder is dissed so much on our board.
