Star Gazing
  • The Stars will start their 13th season in Dallas this October againist the ??. The Stars are hot off their second ever 50 win season in franchise record. The Stars will also host their first ever All Star Game this upcoming January.
  • The Stars ended their 2005-2006 season with a bitter defeat to the Colorado Avalanche in a 4-1 series win for the Avs. The more disappointing thing is that the Stars ended their season losing 6 of their last 7 season games. Ending a 5 game losing streak in Game 4, the 5 game losing streak was only the 2nd time in the past 8 seasons the Stars had a losing streak longer than 4 games.
  • Dallas is 76-7-8 when leading after the 1st Period since Dave Tippett took over as Stars head coach four seasons ago. The Stars are 0-0 this season.
  • Dallas was 19-1-4 in 05-06 when scoring atleast four goals, and 20-2-0 when allowing one goal. The Stars also posted a 51-8-4 record when allowing three goals or less, last season.
  • The Stars will play a total of ? back-to-back series in 2006-07. The Stars were 19-9-2 in games included in back-to-backs in 05-06. The Stars were 10-4-1 in the first game while 9-5-1 in the second.
  • Since 1996-97, the Stars rank second in home wins (228), second in total wins (416) and fourth in playoff wins (55). Only Detroit has more wins than Dallas in home wins (242) and total wins (426). New Jersey (64), Detroit (69), and Colorado (75) all are ahead of Dallas in the most playoff wins since 96-97.

Wearing traditional uniform: 51-24-4 | Wearing third jersey: 3-2-3

All Star Game 2007 - Texas Size
The National Hockey League, in conjunction with the Dallas Stars and American Airlines Center, announced on Monday, January 23, 2006 that the Dallas Stars will host the 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration, January 22-24, 2007, at American Airlines Center and venues throughout the area. The 55th NHL All-Star Game will be played at American Airlines Center on Wednesday evening, January 24, 2007. The arena will also hold the NHL SuperSkills and the YoungStars Game on Tuesday, January 23. There will also be a Monday All-Star event at American Airlines Center, with planning currently in its infancy stages. More details on the Monday event will be announced at a later date. This will mark the first non-weekend NHL All-Star events since 1989 when the 40th NHL All-Star Game was played in Edmonton on a Tuesday. The All Star Game that will be coming to Dallas in the 2007 season will be the 10th All Star Game all time in the State of Texas and the first for the National Hockey League. The game will follow the traditional East vs. West format, rather than the North America vs. World format that was used from 1998-2002.
Dates To Know -
January 22nd, 2007 - Special All-Star Event
January 23rd, 2007 - Skills Competition
January 24th, 2007 - All Star Game

thanks, chaos.

Colorado is dressing the Brunette-Sakic-Hejduk line that destroyed us oh so painfully during the playoffs. Stewart and Wolski should fill out a pretty imposing 2nd line as well.

For the Stars - it's good to see Khomitski getting a shot, I really liked what I saw from him at training camp. I'll also be watching Eriksson and Sertich like a hawk.

Can't wait to see how Big E looks... he was pretty underwhelming in the scrimmages, but that's understandable for someone with health concerns. Being on a line with Ott probably didn't do him any favors either. He should have Eriksson feeding him the puck tonight, and I guess Lessard or Miettenen on the other wing.

Preseason means next to nothing, but I'm still incredibly pumped for this game.

Prediction: Stars 5-3

Eriksson (2), Barnes, Miettenen, Sertich

And Fistric destroys Brad May in a fight

Well...that seems like a perfect way to start the game off. Burnette scores on the powerplay. It's a 1-0 Colorado lead.

That'll do it. Stars fall for the first time in the pre-season at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche.

Your Final Score...

Terrible on the powerplay atleast. The turnover that Walzy was talking about then there was another turnover in the 3rd that led to Ellis making a crazy stop (or the puck just missed the net LOL) in the Dallas zone once again.

Outside the powerplay, I never really noticed him.
