Habs should keep Carey Price - Bergy and Demers

Jacques Demers said Habs should keep Carey Price this season because he's already better then Aebischer and Huet. Michel Bergeron agreed with that.

I really like Price and some young goalie did a really good job so maybe it wouldnt be a bad move BUT like Latendresse there's not a lot of room for him. Danis is ready and we already have 2 NHL goalie.

What's your thought?

Way too soon...where are we going to unload our other goalies???

Talented goalies are a dime-a-dozen compared to the 80's, no team's gonna want Danis and Aebischer at the moment.

Let Price develop more in the WHL and let him play in the world juniors...if he's that good, he'll be the starting goaltender for team Canada and he'll get some well deserved hype from all across Canada.

I don't agree at all.

Halak and Danis > Price right now, IMO

Price hasn't even played a full game yet... Let alone against a full team of NHL'ers

Aebisher is expendable but I wouldn't replace him with Price. I'd go with Danis and give Halak the starting role in Hamilton.

As much as I respect Demers, he's clueless now. No wonder why he's been out of a coaching job for so long.

Him and Bergy should check in at an ex-NHL coaches retirement home and stop spewing such insanities.

I love that... Carey Price is as impressive as Latendresse in the exhibition game so far (last year Price was solid).. So i'm finally happy to see that Price too can have some recognitions even if he is not a french guy....

But like Latendresse, the exhibitions game means nothing...

i think that both of them can benefit of having another year in junior...!

Lets see what going to happens but i don't think that huet's spot is in danger... like perezhogin's spot isn't!

Na but next year he is likely to jump directly from junior to NHL... no AHL for him ? Yes. Possibly.

Let him play well in a new Tri-City team and bring Canada to the gold medal... then he'll be ready to prove everyone on this board that they are wrong and that Price is an awesome goalie.

Come on guys, are you saying it's NOT fair to judge a prospect based on the 1 and a half period they played in a meaningless exhibition game? Didn't you SEE how many goals Huet let in? Obviously he's going to flop this year (again, based on a period and a half) and Price is the clear solution!...until he has a bad game

Jacques Demers won a Stanley Cup. He know his hockey a bit.. if he think Price is clearly better than most of our nhl-ready goalie, he must know something about that...

... but i agree that Price must stay on the WHL one more year. But Demers is no Bergy, he know his hockey. I have respect for the man.

Demers...

Coached 1000 NHL Games,
Won A Stanley Cup,
Would have coached for over .500 had he not taken the job with the expansion Lightning,
Was Lightning GM...

Did all the above while being illiterate.

He also had a rotten childhood with an horrible abusive alcoholic father.

I respect the hell out of Jacques Demers, and I was proud to receive his biography for Christmas last year.

I wonder about the Price gamble though, I've got no pre-made idea.

I would like to see Price tomorrow for 60 minutes and if he plays a good game he could battle with other goalie. Maybe it's risky but he wouldnt be the first young goalie to play good. He can play 10 NHL games maybe we could give him a tryout.

He only plays 30 minutes it's not much but I think he should play 90+ minutes until the camp's end.

I want to see price play a full game soon and after this game we could evaluate him more.

I'm not saying that demers is right because obviously we cannot forget what huet give us last year BUT like you said, Demers's comments means something!

yeah because I think that he have played only half a game with us... it's can be good to see what he can give for 60 minutes... because half a game isn't a game... and a pre-season game isn't a regular game...

but we cannot not see Price's upside!

Jacque demers should no better. The goalie has got to be an integral part of your team. Your teams succes starts with good goaltending. Jacque demers should no this because he had patrick roy. You just dont bring in a 19 year old in your organisation. 2 or 3 bad games and his confidence is shaking. The last thing you want is for price to come in have a few bad games and get him to think he cant handle the nhl game.

Roy won the cup as a 20 years old rookie (started the year at 19 as Price is now), He's pretty much the worst exemple you could have found.

If Price is already better than Aebisher I don't see why we should'nt keep him.

Demers has a good eye for talent but he went way overboard here.

I dunno, we always give a few extra years to our prospects to progress. It's the right way imo...because pro hockey >>>> junior hockey. Forwards shoot better and are much faster.

If price is clearly better than both of huet and aebischer, and mentalement solid, ok, otherwise, no way

He should be in junior.

He needs to receive a LOT of rubber and he will with Tri-City.

Yeah he's got a great hockey resume, but making hockey decisions isn't his job anymore. It's filling airtime and getting ratings.

I'm sure Demers the coach/GM thinks much differently than Demers the media guy.
