Actually, there's no guarantee either player makes it. In my eyes, best forward I've seen of the whole bunch has been Greg Moore. The Rangers could easily put Hollweg at center on the 4th line and move Moore in. Plus, Colton Orr has also played well. And there's the spectre of Hossa, whom this staff still seems to have faith in.

How about this? We have too many good players. Not enough spots for them!

Looks like Valiquette will be going the entire 60 minutes! I thought they'd at least put in Monty the final 20...

Is it just me, or is Kevin Weekes and $2.5 mil slowly heading outta NYC?

I still wouldn't be so quick to do that. It is very important to have a reliable backup. Valiquette could probably handle the job, but I feel more secure with Weekes.

Holy crap. Colton Orr looks great. The dude is at least twice as fast as he used to be.

That would be bad, jas...

I can't go this season with Betts as this team's third line center. He has zero creativity and little scoring ability.

I missed the fist 7 minutes of the fourth - what did I miss in regards to Orr? He looked painfully slow in the first two periods and did very little. I can't believe Renney put him out there on the PK.

I think Montoya may have won himself the backup job until Weekes is healthy.

On a side note, I'll tell you one guy who has really impressed me tonight...Korpikoski.

Chris Simon should quit hockey and take up soccer...he apparently is better at good ol' Futbol.

haha, it's laughable that they allowed that goal, I would be livid if this was a real game.

Same here, Balej..

Korps has looked good. He needs to develop some offense, but he's looked good.

The Isles have looked good too. This is a pretty full team and the games are getting tougher. It's a good challenge for the Rangers hopefuls as this is a better show of their talent than the last three games (as each game from now will only be more of a challenge). I'm also impressed a bit with Baranka and Moore, and was early with Helminen, but I think he's really only had two good shifts. Dawes dazzles a bit too much (or has dazzled a bit too much in this game). Girardi and Richter aren't doing it for me.

I don't mind..

the call on the goal, as long as it's called like that consistently throughout the season. It wasn't your typical 'distinct kicking motion'. It was borderline I think. He did turn his skate, but the point is can't a guy turn his skate to control the puck.

I agree with this assesment. I feel like Dawes should make the team becuase it seems to me that at this point, he can only get better by playing in the NHL. Baranka has played a nice game, Moore as well. Helminen has to learn how to finish, he really hurt his stock by missing two real good opportunities.

I think we can all agree that at this point, what the Rangers need more than anything is guys who can finish outside of Jagr and Prucha. They need to find a few guys who can put the puck in the net, you'd like to think Shanny could be one of those guys, but it would be nice to find a kid with a little scoring touch.

Osminator..

Lee's not looking half bad. In fact, I think he's getting better.

As for Weekes - isn't he injured?

He looks to be a more confident player also. Tom Renney has a way of motivating players, of earning their respect, that I can sincerely appreciate. He's put some faith in Colton and he looks to be somewhat more responsible.

We'll see whether this is just a first impression or not.

Korpi is playing now the way he did at the WJC, which is encouraging because it means he's finally gaining confidence playing against players older than himself.

He's doing the little things right: being strong on the puck, keeping his legs moving, getting the puck deep and hounding the Islander defense relentlessly. All good things.

I'm not sure if he'll ever put up the points that are associated with your typical 1st round forward but lets hope he can continue to develop a sound two-way game in Hartford this year.

I feel like Shanny is starting to press a little for his first goal. He's been getting unlucky a little bit.

Rachunek has been awful. Very unimpressed. He has been one of the worst players on the ice. Playing very lazy with bad positioning and passes.
