At least Calgary isn't a self proclaimed champion. Face it, if you want such a cocky and arrogant title, you are going to get hammered for it.

If you want to compare city's, Calgary has the most number of post-graduates in Canada and has the highest per-capata rating. I would choose Calgary over deadmonton any day.

Am I jelous that Edmonton is holding this, or that they choose Montreal over the Battle of Alberta? Yes, I'll admit it. I think its a cool idea, but the Oilers get way too anal over this - and it was totaly disprespect to promote their hockey game just minutes after it was annouced that a hockey legend passed a way.

hey hemsky, no offense....but I think your really reaching when you proclaim Edmonton the city of champions because of a Grey Cup title. That's Rochester being called the city of champions for winning the A-league soccer title, or Toronto winning the NLL title. When BC won the Grey cup....the province hardly noticed....in Edmonton it's like winning a Stanley Cup. I just find it quite comical when Edmonton is called the city of champs.

No offense taken KC19, we're just proud. It's been since 1993 when Edmonton last won a championship and we're just excited that our 'City of Champions' nickname has some meaning. Plus, with all thats going on here we're pretty pumped and some of us are guilty of being a bit arrogant. (like me, sorry) but man, it's just good to be an Oiler fan right now! It's just exciting, it makes my heart beat faster.

Great. Nothing wrong with being proud of your community (even if it is deadmonton )
