Hmmmm. That's odd. I wonder where this years schedule is?

No matter, going to order it tonight or tommorrow the "special price" is till opening night.

I want the games live this year so I don't have to wait and record the second showings. MSG was notorious for editing out huge portions of Rangers games.

If the HD stuff falls into place then so be it.

One step at a time, and Center Ice is the same either way, I don't see an "HD" Center Ice.

Versus is OLN in some way shape or form. I actually have a Versus channel as part of my basic package, so that mystery is solved.

No way in hell. All signals might be Digital, but no way are they all in HD.

Can you imagine the "local, channel 9, ABC affiliate" forking over the money necessary to film all of their broadcasts in HD? Much less broadcast everything in HD. ANd what about PBS channels? Get ready to be robbed at gunpoint in lieu of telethons.

I've heard this for years now and they always push the date back because of the little guys who can't afford to front the cash to make the leap to an all-digital format.

I read this on msnbc.com, and yes, most of the article was about how the small stations can't afford the technology. But the article firmly stated that 2009 was the year of change. Maybe they'll push it back again but they can't keep stalling forever.

2009 is the year in which analog signals are supposed to go away, but I have serious doubts. Only about 50% of Comcast customers have a digital receiver, and there are VERY few digital-ready TVs out there.

There are a LOT of people who don't want to pay extra money for digital receivers, too.

My guess is that about 2008, politicians are going to figure out that a third of the country still has analog cable-ready TVs, and they'll push the date back again.

More HD is on the way, though. I just ready that Comcast expects to have 35 HD channels by the end of 2007. And if Switched Digital Video ever works on a large scale, you'll have as much HD as the programmers can provide.

Drop it to about $80 American and I'll get it....maybe. That's actually a stretch though. Do I want to pay that much to see Carolina, Florida, Montreal games? I see about 4 football games every Sunday for free. Bruins (read:local market no matter where you live) are free.

The point of spending all this cash is............? I like sports, but seriously..paying extra cash to watch teams you really couldn't care about is like watching flies copulate at a ridiculous price.

Sorry.....I'll pass.....

For a lot of us transplanted Bostonians living throughout the U.S. and Canada, NHL Center Ice represents a godsend. Without it, I'd have to settle for a few games here and there on ESPN, etc. If you're not in New England anymore, you're out of the local market.

I've been getting it for years. It's more then worth it to me personally. I use to go out to sports bars to watch Bruins...and drop $40ish per game on brews 2 times a week before CI. That's $320 per month...So i saved over $100 the first month alone.

I'm getting a plasma HDTV set this week but I'm not paying for an HD box from my satellite provider (DirecTV). Even though I won't see the games in HD, I'll still have the benefit of seeing them on a wider screen. Sooner or later all providers will have to replace their boxes with HD receivers at no additional charge, according to the DirecTV technician who installed my satellite dish. He estimates that DirecTV will do so in March of 2007. It was kind of him to give me that tip, considering that it will cost his company $300+. I've had the Center Ice package and I recommend it. I will even get to see the games telecast by Versus (formerly OLN) because they're part of my package.

without center ice i can piece together 16 bruins games i can watch on tv between vs., nbc, and the times they play the tampa bay lightning...which is pretty good...but its far from 82 and most of the games on national tv are grouped toward the end of the season...plus i wanna follow other teams that i like...i figure its probably worth the money if i want to watch a hockey game every day and keep up with the bruins

Went to order C.I last night at DirecTV's site.

Signed in...

But when I went to choose C.I, the NFL package was also checked and grayed out so I couldn't uncheck it.

When I went to process my order (with NFL package checked), it appeared as though I was ordering both C.I and the NFL package.

There were two links in the NFL area, the one for "more details" lead to a phone number. I called it, but all lines were "expereincing large volumes", and wait times were high. I waited 15 minutes and gave up.

Any one else experience this?

I guess if you're only interested in the Bruins, this is the way to go, but you are missing some great things IMO.

Maybe its being married with two kids, but Saturday nights are great now when my wife has to work (nursing). I love the 10-10:30 starts and you get to see some great western conference hockey.

I'm a Bruins fan first and foremost, but I do love the game, and love to see the different superstars, and different styles. I love watching games in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary cause those fans are completely nuts.

Its 149 bucks for six solid months of hockey, and all of the play-offs up until the Cup. Counting the two months of play-offs, you're talking less then 5 bucks a week to watch the greatest sport on the planet. You can't beat it.

So, tonight was the debut of my new CI service, and the
Ottawa/Toronto game was supposed to be shown - it was listed
in the guide, and when I went to the channel, it was shown as airing,
but there was just a "PLEASE WAIT ONE MOMENT - THIS SHOW WILL
BE AVAILABLE SHORTLY" message showing all...night...long.

Is this going to be a common problem - and was anyone else with
Comcast NE actually able to get this game??

Got it worked out.

Apperently 3 years ago when I go the dish itself they lured me in with an insane package. The NFL was part of it.

My wife canceled it last year, but forgot to this year. Although we are 3 weeks into the NFL season, they were just about to charge me the first installment for the NFL package.

I got that canceled and ordered C.I just in time for the Ott/Tor. game.

I feel a sleep , but have the rest of it on the DVR.

Center Ice is great (I'm watching Edmonton vs. Calgary) but I'm sure getting tired of watching that "puckhead" spit out food over and over.

" ALL THE ACTION!"

Even though I get all the Bruins games, I figured I would take the plunge this year and get CI. There is no such thing as too much hockey.

It must have been Comcast's fault. DirecTV aired this game.

There's a delay in the Sharks/Blues game, because Cheechoo managed to punch a hole in the boards with his skate. About the size of a soccer ball.

Actually, when it wasn't working again tonight, I called and found
out it was the most bizarre and annoying thing EVER - none of the CI
channels were coming in for me, and when I called they had me check
the other TV in my roomate's room (a girl who would never watch hockey
by choice in her life) since we spilt the service - and she was getting
every CI channel fine. NOTHING they had me do got it to work in my room,
even though it all runs off the same cable and now I have to wait
3 days for a service call to figure out what's up. She went out late tonight
and I crashed her room to watch some hockey, but my big CI debut has so far been
