As long as Jack stays in college, the Kings won't have to worry about signing him. After the conclusion of the college players senior season, teams have unitl August to sign them. This year it was Aug. 15.

If he leaves school, it would only be if he signed.

The Kings hold his rights til '09 since Jack's a college player. Plenty of time to talk him into signing.

Hate to part with Gleason.

The problem here is that Johnson might want to finish college, so the Kings have to wait a bit.

Tverdovsky is injured, so that means Dalhman probably makes the club.

Kings are also a lot softer on the back end. Trading Belanger opens up a forward spot for Kopitar or TK, Cowan, or Parros.

I'd take Dallman over Oleg any day. Oleg is a gigantic defensive liability. Didnt anyone see him play last year?

2 years 5 million. But were not going to be competitive anyways. Having Oleg on the blueline with Dallman and Weaver, we're going to be closer to a top 5 pick than the playoffs. BUT. In the future, this is going to help us.

This trade hurts us this season. But 2 or 3 years from now? This will be one impressive YOUNG team.

Oleg is signed for two more years (this season and next), $2.5MM per.

Building from the back out. The total Svengaliesqueness of the deals the Bombardo has pulled is mind blowing. Red Berenson will be fit to be tied, driven to drink, and muttering to himself in the corner of the maize and blue lockeroom.

When I saw this on LGK and saw the TSN link about Gleason being traded, I honestly thought someone was pointing out that he'd been misclassified under another team in the database.

That 2.5 million is going to be an albatross. Tverdovsky is worst than horrible but I guess that is the price to pay to get a stud like Jack Johnson.

Query what impact he will have on Frolov (if Frolov is not traded next).

It's not going to hurt all that much...it doesn't really affect the forward situation (even though Belanger is one of my favourite players, there's a logjam of capable forwards at that postion), and, if reports from camp are true, Gleason still has a measure of things to improve upon...it does kind of hurt to have two salary dumps on the D-corps in Sopel and Tverdovsky, but, at any rate, it's worth it for JJ.

What Rutherford didn't tell you guys was that he traded the rights of Jack Johnson, the singer, which he had just purchased on eBay a few weeks back. He just totally PUNK'D the Kings organization.

I thought teams were now only give 2 years to sign any drafted player? I know they changed the rules on Euro guys, thought it was for the college ones too

You guys just won yourself one of the best d-men to be for years to come and only for Gleason and Bélanger. I know you can't stop laughing......

Well, it seems it means no more news from me about what Bélanger said in Montreal, I hope you will at least miss that part of the deal.....
