And the money is going straight to Oleg Tvedovsky's deep pockets.

Ever get smacked around by a bag of pucks? I'd say they're more like a bag of donuts.

But what the heck - you guys got Johnson! Good for you...

You realize that the Kings didn't really add any salary in this trade right? Just a measly 25K. Oleg was a salary dump

I couldn't have been more wrong in that previous thread.

This really is as close to a perfect trade as the team has seen for a while. As good as Gleason is (was?), Dallman's play made a log jam. Same for all the trades/signings for bottom sixers in the offseason. It boils down to moving spare parts for a blue chip. I'll miss Timmy ... best of luck to him.

For those that were at the two home pre-season games against the Sharks and Ducks, I'm pretty sure most in attendance would say that Gleason played very poorly overall. I recall seeing a number of posts here on that subject. I'm wondering if perhaps Gleason was aware of a trade possibly brewing involving himself and maybe his play was a reflection of that distraction?

Yup, 2 Stanley Cup rings... and in both cases was a healthy scratch for much, if not all, of the finals. In fact, last season, he played five post season games because he was a liability carrying his paycheck in his pants (in pennies.)

The role he'll play on the Kings will be that of "whipping boy" --- I assume he'll wear #6

Blake has a ring. I don't think Avery got one (could be wrong). Being on a team that wins a cup, even if you aren't the MVP, is still an accomplishment.

wow, I knew he'd be rihgt in the mix of thigns with Jack Johnson, I just expected it to cost Visnovsky. I can see why Carolina wnats Gleason, this sets them up with a young defender who is ready now and has proven he's capable of playing on the NHL. His ceiling is a bit lower, but he's young, a guarantee, and can play now.

Man, I can't believe we got Jack Johnson. This is our first potential franchise player we've had since.... hell if I know when. Amazing.... DL, you're forgiven for the Cloutier nonsensical contract

Staal, Cole, Williams, Ladd, Ward, Gleason.....yeah, I see your point. Not.

If Tverdovsky plays like he did before he was injured in a Marian Hossa ambush, then he should be fine for you guys. He wasn't quite right since then for whatever reason, and you saw how that worked out for him in the playoffs. I don't know what is Tverdovsky's deal, but I wish him the best of luck.

I hope whatever the truth is about JJ will come out.

oh, one point I forgot. Contrary to what someone said previously, we did add salary to our cap. We've went from two players for $2+ mil to one player for $2.5 mil. Now we have to replace a forward for Belanger, an additional $1 mil but an addition nonetheless, and for the time being a defender for Tverdovsky, an additional $1 mil. But hey, extremely small price to pay for such a huge gain. Huge trade!

Belanger doesnt need to be replaced. We have a glut of centers and had to make room anyways.

This all but signifies that Kopitar is starting in LA this year.

I have been too busy to check up on the boards lately and it took a phone call from a buddy of mine to fill me in on this big move. That never happens. Nice work DL.

Holy $#!%

Sure, why not, JJ was supposed to be picked second. I bet the media will make something of it as well to create more of a buzz when these two play.

It has to be in JJ mind, that Ryan was picked ahead of him, although it shouldn't be a big deal.

I guess will see who the better player is.

After the excitement of getting Johnson, I thought of the whole pick thing and B. Ryan and the Ducks.

To all King fans, I believe the team of the future is here. All the talk of rebuilding and promises of getting better and being a TRUE CONTENDER, have just come true. For all the times the team hasn't been lucky in the draft, or watching other teams getting good draft spots or just lucky in the UFA market and just being on the sidelines, while other teams have success, is finally over.

I'm still in shock right now. I think the reality of this trade will hit me tomorrow.

You're wrong about the 2 mil part

Gleason makes 1.175
Belanger makes 1.3 Mil
That is 2.47 mil

Have the Kings ever had anybody drafted 3rd or higher? Other than Jokinen and Berg I don't think anybody on the team has been in the top 3 picks within the past decade.

With J. Johnson and Tverdovsky now the Kings have 2 players picked in the top 3. (not that it means anything)

that's why I wrote 2+ mil (+ indicates the extra not calculated), it's needless math and the point still remains. Plus, you're STILL wrong in ur math, too bad someone pointed it out before me
