Jumping in front of slapshots in the preseason doesn't make someone a leader. it makes them an idiot.

*Sigh* Rob Simpson a.k.a Captain Obvious with the stupid questions. I had hoped NESN would not bring him back but no such luck.

You can thank our new captain for setting that example

You should play the game the same way all the time. You cant just go through the motions and hope you are ready when it means something.

To be fair, it is the preseason and Boynton wouldn't have been here yet anyway. But, I'm not real impressed with Mara right now.

I wonder why Lady Liberty is on the scoreboard thing, maybe the Rangers are going to change to that?

And they play with more aggression and willingness to be hit than Phil Kessel.

You spoke my thoughts. I was just going to let it go, but yeah, it does resemble last year. I know we're missing some key players today (Sturm, Chara, Jurcina), but still, they have to adjust a little better than this when injuries/illnesses occur.

Hannu is playing well, a couple of goals weren't his fault, but he's not what you would call "standing on his head" either.

Thoughts so far...Donovan has wheels and plays well with Primeau. I can see what they mean by no hands. Still, he is everywhere.

Brookbank looks ok on D. He keeps it simple. Has he fought yet this year?

Hogan showed some fiestyness. I like his energy.

Kessel rookies are going to make mistakes. Not sure if he belongs on that line though.

Is it me or are Bergeron and Boyes off to a slow start. Last year they were quiet as well off the get go.

I am liking Savard and hope he is ok. We should ride the Savard line until Berg-Boyes line picks it up.

Rangers look pretty good. Better than I thought they would thats for sure. Bruins playing good too!

Thomas is a better goalie when on 5-3's. His style for some reason wrks better. Maybe I am wrong.

Mara has had a very "Tanabian" performance so far.

Ditto that. I've seen Mara only a short time between this game and the scrimmages, but in the scrimmages, I didn't notice him much. I'll reserve judgment though... for now.

I agree. I still think Chara did the right thing, setting a great example of how a player should play every game, preseason, season or playoffs. Quite a nice change from what we've been used to the last few seasons.

Pretty awful game so far. The officiating seems pretty bad. In the last two games the only time the Rags seemed to get a penalty is when they are already on the PP...coincidence?

Toivonen has looked good at times, but he has to stop some of those goals. Preseason so he gets a pass, but he has not been stellar.

The Bergeron/Boyes/Kessel line looks great sometimes, poor others. To me Boyes needs to get it going. Kessel needs to just be consistent because he has the skill no doubt....too bad on the turnover because he has been playing a pretty good game.

Savard/Murray/Axe-Savard and Axe have been playing really well. Murray's goal will probably win the hearts of Hfboards fandom, but he has been otherwise horrendous--especially at ES. The absolutely LAZY play on the first goal is simply not acceptable. MOVE YOU FREAKIN' LEGS!

Primea/Stastny/Donovan-Another solid game for the third liners. Primeau looks good even with Lundqvist taking away a great scoring chance.

Mowers/Tenkrat/Hoggan-Perhaps our best line. Skating hard, hitting, drawing penalties. Tenkrat doesnt do much for me, but the other two are tenacious and make good 4th liners.

Stuart-been an absolute rock. Looks fantastic
Alberts-Great game so far
Mara-Some very good, one bad penalty, one BS penalty. I love the transition game he brings
Dempsey/York/Brookbank-Of the three I like Dempsey's wheels. I really hope we dont have to see Brookbank back there much in the regular season. York is what he is, a fringe #7.

But when they are skating they should do something on the way. Dawes goal for example, Alberts skating back to position spooked Kessel and he let the puck go. Alberts since he was not in position should have picked up Dawes but he skated right by him. Hope the coaches picked this up and have pointed it out.

He hasn't been that bad. That first penalty was not his fault. The second was. They seem to really want him to shoot from the point. I am so used to seeing the forwards do al the work and ignore thier D. Its just different...

Shocking that the fanclub is holding a grudge against the guy traded for Boynts...

There has been a lot going well on ES. Dont read too much into the knee jerk reactions that you see hear because many are far from accurate.

Donovan looks like he's going to be a good fit for us with his speed.

Brookbank looks ok. They mentioned that his being able to play both wing and D is a plus.

I'd like to see more of Hoggan in the third. He's one of the few to bring any energy.

Kessel has looked like a kid playing with men. So far he has taken softness to a new level.
