question

Clarke makes Ryan Kelser an offer and says it was business

1.9mill for a 3rd liner on a 1 year deal

question

Brian Gionta is unsigned in NJ

where is his offer sheet?

Call me what you like

But I think Clarke was out to hurt Vancouver with the Kesler offer

why?

Clarke offered a better deal for Luongo and is chocked that he went to Vancouver in a inferior deal

IMO there was too much smoke for a nasland/gagne deal for a phone call not to have been made

Clarke always says that he does what is best for his team

Gionta is a guy who could help the devils

if the devils have a verble agreement with Gionta on a contract--that would violate contract law

Why doesn't Clarke offer Giota a deal and make it public knowledge?

He would get to screw over someone else

In order for there to be an offer sheet signed the player has to be willing to enter into that agreement with the team making the offer.

Gionta has made it clear to EVERYONE from the word go he has no intention of leaving the Devils so why would he sign an offer sheet? That's right - he wouldn't!!!

Get over it.

The loyalty Lou Lamoriello enjoys is undeniable and remarkable. Unsigned record goal-scorer Brian Gionta did not even sniff at a recent Flyers attempt to lure him away as a Group II free agent, which would have turned up the heat on the Devils' salary-cap hot seat.

Exactly. Clarke called his agent and his agent said, 'if he's interested, we'll get back to you.' Obviously, Gionta is not interested while Kessler was.

No I am not

I live over in the UK and I heard the reports that Clarke had contacted the Flyers about Luongo

The article I saw from Canoe.com and on this site had a deal centered around Gagne for Luongo

and the on team1040.ca they had Maguire about Clarke and Luongo

go to the canucks boards and discuss what was going on

Clarke called about Luongo and made an offer

You just answered your own question there.

It's like Forsberg would go to the Canucks...

ok maybe you didnt make it up then. but still a rumor is just a rumor and
a) we have no idea what clarke really offered
b) and it makes no sense for clarke to be pissed at nonis, if anything hed be pissed at florida in that case.

Why would Clarke contact the Flyers about a player on another team?

Is it really that difficult for people to understand that offer sheets need to be ACCEPTED by the RFA in order for them to be offer sheets??
