I guess he was tired of sharing his St-Hubert snacks with them.

This is the type of thread I want to see. Positive! I don't understand why some people are disappointed by Gainey's decision to trade Ribs for Niinimaa. Fine Niinimaa had his share of struggles last year, but Carbo didn't want any cliques in the dressing room. Our "Fashion Diva" won't be a distraction anymore. Also judging from last year's playoffs when Koivu went down, it was very apparent that he is a terrible excuse for a 2nd line center. There is no way a team can go far in the playoffs with a softy like him.

PS- The Raconteurs show kicked royal ***!

I heard over the news that ribeiro, theodore, and dagenias were best friends and inseperable! Funny to see none of them are no longer with montreal... It must be because of the antigang law in quebec?!

Yeah, but he was benched when he was PLAYING WELL.

Also, Bulis and Zednik wanted larger roles. I thought Bulis was playing well when he was benched as well.

Zednik's game improved as his groin got better.

I believe Theodore was injured as well....same thing...groin.

Not really fair to paint them as malcontents without giving the reasons and there was an epidemic of groin injuries last year.

I don't understand why Perezhogin and Bulis were not given more of a chance when the injuries hit. I'll never understand that. I always thought it was because Julien lacked job security, but now I think it's because Julien was allergic to forechecking, which is Bulis's game (and Perez's too).

Carbo Knew Niinimaa from Dallas, no?

Maybe he influenced the wrath..

No he wasn't. Julien and Bob might not have given him a big chance, but at times he didn't prove that he was worthy of a spot with the club.

Well, that's where we differ, because every time Perezhogin had a good game, he'd get two minutes the next night. It made no sense.

He did and does need to be more physically involved, but I thought he was still effective, especially the Higgins-Plekanec-Perezhogin line....those guys were on fire.

Niinimaa played almost 20 min./game last year, not bad for "bad" player.

I like this move too, while Niinimaa might not a long-term solution, neither was Ribs, we all knew we needed an upgrade at 2nd line centre, and we got it (let's hope). This sends a message: work hard or you are gone!

Don't worry, they'll see each other again. Ribs for Dallas, Theo for the Avs, and Dagenais as that guy who cleans up all those plastic stanley cups in Boston this year

The fact is we needed a D-man. We got one.....we have PLENTY of depth on forward. I hope this means Kostytsyn get a call.

Anyone (read RTL) care to cite examples of when Samsonov was a healthy scratch?

The wrath of Gainey is greater than I could have ever imagined!

He re-aquired Traverse just to punish him again for sucking so much for us last time. Revenge is best served cold...

They say that Mike Ribeiro and Guillaume Latendresse were bonding quite nicely and getting to be rather close. Could be he didn't want Ribs around to pollute the kid's mind.
