To me, it's pretty simple. This is a must 2 points. They managed to blow the Chicago and San Jose games, both of which should have been wins. A win tonight and we'll have managed to get 4 out of 8 points on this trip. All things considering, a .500 road trip is not horrible. Still, it is rather disappointing in the fact that we should already have 4 points and looking for more.
I think that Worrell is healthy, and he always plays big against us. To me, if he starts to run every Ranger in site against, Simon has to step up. Otherwise, this has to be a completely defensive gameplan with Labarbera in goal. Hopefull Kovalev can continue his good play.

Exactly. If you leave points on the table against lesser teams, teams you should beat or teams that you had the lead on, you have to make up those points elsewhere.

defensive gameplan? well i guess any one can have a PLAN. i'm gonna cross my fingers and say Rangers 6-5 in OT. i haven't done one of these before so i will let my imagination run wild.

barnaby
holik
rucinsky
carter
malakhov (OT winner)

kovalev 2 assists. leetch and de vries will have a bad night. simon vs worrel. nedved & hlavac will play well but they keep shooting wide tonight. carter will get a lucky bounce.

hedjuk
tanguay (2)
konowalchuk
skoula

hedjuk will score on breakaway. tanguay will undress someone 34 seconds after the rangers tie it up. another one will be one of those bad bounces (PPG). rangers will be out of position for konowalchuk. skoula gets the screen (PPG).

if one of these things happy, that will be some luck and i will call my predictions a success!

are you calling colorado a lesser team? or only because forsberg and kariya are out? they still have guys called alex "25 points in 18 games - NHL point leader" tanguay, sakic, selanne, "maurice" hedjuk, blake, morris, etc. etc. they are 11-5-1-1 compared to our paltry 6-6-4-2.

I would assume that TB and Singin' meant that if you blow points against supposedly lesser teams (Chicago and San Jose), you gotta get them back against better teams (Colorado).

I'll be happy with a tie, but when you play an opponent in the Western division you have to go all out for a win in ot.

Prediction: 3-1 Rags. (Nedved, Bobo, and Holik)

Adrenaline kicks in for Labarbra and he makes 41 saves. He then starts the next game and loses 4-3 in classic NYR fashion.

I dont think the Ranger will be blown out tonight. Except for the Devil debacle, we've played well against upper echelon teams this year.

I say they lose in OT 3-2. Strong effort by LaBarbera, but he'll give up a softee in the 3rd to tie the game. Poti will pinch in OT and leave a 2-on-1 going the other way, with Tanguay scoring the winner.

Kovalev will get chances, but will continue to shoot wide, hit the post, and get stoned by the goalie.

That's not my point at all.

They have left points on the table against Chicago and San Jose. They also should have beaten Colorado (so while they might not be a lesser team, it was a game they should have won.)

This looks like the first chance I have to "see" them live. I'm not sure if I even want to after "listening" to their lackluster play. These past six years, I always come away disappointed and underwhelmed after seeing this team play on TV for the first time. I sure hope this year is different but I'm not getting my hopes up very high.

We should close this thread and start the NYR-SEN thread. There isn't much to talk about here. We know the outcome. Loss. Move on.

Boy, I really hope two and a half hours from now you'll regret saying that.

Lets Go Rangers!

I hope I regret it myself. Don't get me wrong. I want them to win but I am also realistic.

He shoots wide, off the post, hits the glass with the shot. Wide. Wide! Wide! Wide! Pass Of Cue! Bad Pass! Turnover! He Fell Down!

This you hear during a Ranger game. Can't win like that.

Great start so far. Most of the play in the Colorado zone.

Poti out with an injured thumb, Bouchard in.

Poor Labarbera...

why, espcially during a long shift, are defensemen up high chasing guys with Barnaby left to cover the middle for so long? Woo-hoo. Ain't looking good (Colorado has seemed to have awoken!).
