that's actually a good question, we have 7 players for 6 spots and it will probably go to who is playing well.

the only combo that seems real likely is Carney-Burns, the other pairing could be anything between Johnsson, Schultz, Skoula, Nummelin, and Foster. My guess is Skoula starts off as a healthy scratch but who knows really

The Strib's insert today stated that the pairings will be:

Carney-Johnsson
Burns-Nummelin
Foster-Schultz

(am I remembering this correctly? Is Skoula the 7th?)

PP pairings:
Nummelin-Rolston
Foster-Johnsson

I'm assuming they're using Carney to protect Johnsson while he works the rust out.

Yeah, Skoula is the guy Jacques has the least confidence in. And with good reason. If he doesn't get his sht together and start playing consistently by mid-season, one of those kids in Houston may push him out the door. Frankly, I won't miss him much.

during preseason they worked a lot together and there were articles written about how they were working great together at camp, so it seemed like they would start the year together.

is he really in the dog house or is he just on the bottom of the ladder? I havent read anything of Lemaire being angry at Burns, but i could be wrong

I think bottom of the ladder. Lemaire said he's going to get Burns into the lineup, but he's not sure when. Didn't sound like he was unhappy with Burns or anything.

Burns in the open Sunday practice and in the preseason game against the Blues at the X took alot of penalties (that's all I saw). JL can't be happy with all his penalties. Yes I agree, he's the low man on the ladder and Nummelin is exceeding expectations. So I think its a little about Le Chateau BowWow, a bit of low man on the ladder and Skoula isn't playing that bad. Brent will get his chance, though. Probably soon. Good points.

I don't see anything wrong with his game or evidence that JL is down on him. He played over 21 minutes in the Nashville game (which was more than Schultz who was prasied by JL in the opener.)

The only thing I can see that Skoula may have a problem down the road is his tendency to jump into the play too quickly which turn into odd man breaks toward his own net.
