Good game tonight, kind of surprised Brodziak didn't play and Pouliot wasn't there, not really surprised about Gilbert not playing. Schremp looked sluggish, not much hustle there at all, but the skills are apparent. Sestito was a ball of fire, a few nice hits and great puck movement. Can't wait until Saturday night.

You can expect that almost every game. The Wilkes Barre area is completely nuts for the Pens. Almost every player that has gone through there has said it's pretty much the best place they've ever played.

as for WBS news, their beat writer as a blog that is good for info

I could see Sestito and Lannon scratched on Saturday for Pouliot and Gilbert to play. Also, Welch may be going up soon also, so then it won't matter.

Sounds good, I think you will find that Gilbert may exceed some people's expectations. Big man, smooth skater, loves offence but can cover his own end.

I also think you might be surprised, he just about made the Oilers club (many feel he was neck and neck with uber-prospect Smid) but they sent him to the AHL so he could play regularily. He seems to be a great two-way defender with skating ability and I have a feeling he could be a regular contributor on the powerplay. Hopefully he finds a regular spot on the blueline because I definitely think he's good enough.

Marc-Antoine Pouliot practiced with the team this morning. He said he realizes one of the centers is going to have to move to the wing. He said he prefers center, but he would rather be a first-line winger than a fourth-line center. Sounds reasonable.

Not to mention, if the big worry is for Schremp to learn the defensive side of the game, wouldn't him playing wing mean an easier learning curve?

Speaking of Pouliot playing on the line with Crosby, Pouliot used to take most of the draws, and all of the important draws when they played together.

I watched that game and your boy schremp did nothing . Looked a little lost at times... guess thats why he's in the A and not up in the big house. As far as your other boys getting ice time... its not call the WBS oilers...Richards job is to develop players for the Penquins .. not the oilers...
oh and by the way the game sheet on the AHL site has schremp not getting any shots...

I'm sure he wouldn't be too upset if he won a few games as well though. Gilbert will get some icetime, he should be won of the best defencemen on Wilkes-Barre and they'll like what they see once he gets into some game action. I'm a little surprised (and miffed) about Brodziak getting hung out to dry though, I feel he could be a very good 2nd line centreman at the AHL level but he's definitely not going to get his chance in Wilkes-Barre.

No points so far for Schremp or Pouliot with a couple minutes left in the 2nd period but Brodziak has a goal. This kid really needs to get some icetime down there, I truly feel he can be a point/game guy in the AHL if he gets the minutes. Wilkes-Barre is so stacked at centre that perhaps we should see if there is any way we can get him on a different club.

edit: Schremp and Gilbert both just picked up assists on a powerplay goal by James as I made this post.

Does it sound like Gilbert has played well so far?

Ouch, Penner has gotten lit up for 7 goals now and there is still 5 minutes left. Hopefully JDD gets a shot next time, Penner definitely hasn't been good.

Doesn't this mean Schremp is on a Point-per game in the AHL, by getting 2 assists??

So Schremp finishes the night with 2a and is 0 in a 7-4 loss

Hope JDD gets the next start.
