belfour sucks, as should be expected. Should have grabbed Schaefer off waivers and dumped this bum.

what i meant by 3 bad season is that he peformed horrible in pressure situations (ie. quaterfinals against flyers in 03 and semi in 04 where he let something like 5+ goals in 6 of those games) and fell apart in the 05/06 season where he had a pretty bad GAA and S%.

Andy Sutton scores to make it 6-0.

Belfour was the Leafs MVP for most of his time there. When he got hurt that team couldn't make the playoffs. Coincidence?

I wish this team and it's goalie would have had the opportunity to play in a playoff game even if they played bad/awful in it.

BTW...just about every goaltender had worse individual #s (GAA and SV%) than previous years in 2005-06 (beginning of the "new" NHL as it's called now)...new rules (especially against goaltenders) had something to do with that as well. Even so, Belfour still didn't have the worse numbers for a starter that year. It's not like he's a 28 year old guy anymore...he's 41 years old. Our GM/coach knows this and still played him against our division rival.

Someone should really go after Exelby before this game is done (and before the last 5 minute rule kicks in) to send a message that his play of tonight won't be tolerated next time.

Another liberty taken... Slater boarded someone by the Panthers bench and no one did anything to him (again).

That's true. I'll pass on the **** though.

Ed can be 'blamed' for the 4 goals scored on him. The rest of team carries the big goose egg.

They looked tired from the start. I imagine they'll get more adjusted to the physical game once the season goes on.

you don't suppose eddie came out with a weak *** effort because he was pissed he wasn't given the (obvious) opportunity to start against his former team. this guy's got a lot of pride and took a lot of you know what last year. is his pride bigger than his commitment to the panthers? or maybe he was hoping to get pulled so he'd have the chance to start monday night (riffing on denis potvin's comments during the broadcast).

there's no "bad luck" - we just stunk tonight.

yes, belfour was atrocious, but the guys in front of him havent been much better. it's not like the thrashers are looking like worldbeaters, they actually look pretty bad as well.

no one showed up for this game. our defense has been running around as if they were playing in the ECHL and our forwards havent sustained anything offensively.

blame belfour all you want, the entire team has been brutal tonight.

our best performance in a long time followed by the worst....jekyll...hyde....deja-vu anyone?

We need Tex to go pee on the goal posts to get Eddie back in the zone. Eddie's always been very extreme. When he's good he's awesome and when he's bad he's fricken awful. Plus it's a road game, we still have problems getting it together on the road. After the huge win last night, we were confident, perhaps over confident and complacent and too worried about playing the leafs. Let's try to at least get one goal here boys so our spanking isn't too bad and then move on. Go Panthers!

yeah, i'm sure he purposley tanked it to get a message through to martin and the panthers....

belfour had a much better chance of starting on monday if he played well tonight...use some common sense.

So much for the 5 minute rule not kicking in...glad to see the Panthers have some pride and self-respect tonight.

Eddie looks the same as last season, so why is everyone so surprised about his performance tonight? There is a reason why the Leafs let him become a free agent.

I hope you're referring only to goaltenders because I can think of a few players who were awesome in 98-99 and are still very productive, Nieuwendyk, Sakic, Peca, Pronger, Jagr, Sundin, Modano, Lidstrom...

On a positive note, I think Auld has done pretty well considering he came in off the bench.

one bad game , lets just look foward to the next game . As HG mentionned Auld has been solid for us. I am sure the team is angry and will look to rebound monday night . Martin has a decision to make for monday , Belfour rarely throughout hes career had two bad games in a row , its been his signature to bounce bk the next game . Do we let him go in monday , or go in with the obvious choice Auld whos been real soild for us . I would go with auld, cuz i really like hes play so far . GO PANTHERS GO!
