If so, please voice your reasons for wanting to split these boys up. I'd be very curious to hear those.

Ever since I started following the Habs, I personally never seen our club having its top line emerge as much as it did during both pre-season and last night's game. I was amazed by their performance last night and I thought it was the only line that carried us through the first game as a whole.

Thoughts on this please?

IMO...

Samsonov - Koivu - Kovalev >>>> Higgins - Koivu - Ryder.

When Koivu is healthy he is a legit #1 center in this league...and Ryder and Higgins are developping nicely into top line wingers.

Based on what? Kovalev's and Samsonov's 'outstanding' performance last night?

I wouldn't go that far. The man doesn't lack heart... but he is not in the league of the Sundin's or Forsberg's of the NHL.

He is, however, an exceptional second line centre.

and ottawa took alfie off the big line too

eaves spezza heatley
schaefer fisher alfredsson

ryder koivu higgins
samsonov plekanec kovalev

you can see what the coaches are thinking here
all the eggs in one basket makes a questionable 2nd line

we'll see if it works
