Whipping boys

Perhaps I've had too much Guiness while watching the first three games, but the Flyers whipping boys - Hatcher and Nedved - have looked pretty decent.

Am I imagining this?

No. I've noticed the same thing, although I too have been consuming too much Guiness.

They both have been good. Nedved has a history of streaky play, so I will be much more impressed if he keeps it up for a few months. Hatcher though, you really have to give him credit for slimming down and working on foot speed.

You are not imagining anything.

New whipping boys:

Meyer, Kane, Esche...and Jones because we know he'll do something incredibly retarded sooner or later.

I think Nedved played a very strong game last night. Maybe he is accepting his new roll and maybe he can be a checking line center. Well - we know he can - maybe he will...

I'm trading up boys.

Gagne is my pick. This time last year, I was already wondering "when did Iginla get less white?" Since his pay checks started coming, Gagne hasn't been the same dominant player that we saw last year. Maybe he'll get better as the season goes on, hopefully.

i must say that Hatcher has actually impressed me. By no means is he a speedster, but he looks about average out there for speed. I like his awareness in his own end, and not to mention his long reach which has really helped him on 1-1 situations.

Nedved has suprised me as well. I think the biggest reason for the slow start up front for the team as a whole has been chemistry. it just seems like no one seems to know where their teammate is going to be from time to time. I think come December, you will see everything firing away. I love the combination of Richards, Sanderson & Calder. Richards cant' seem to buy a goal right now, but he looks hungry and is going to start getting some breaks soon.

Storm in a cup, you have to change your avatar because I cannot read this board when I am hypnotized by Scarlett for hours..

Please do so immediately

Gagne has never been a "dominant" player, so I don't know what you were expecting...to me he looks exactly the same.

I still don't see it with Hatcher...maybe I'm not watching close enough or have also downed too many beers (Boddingtons) but he still looks painfully slow and just doesn't see that open man. I guess that's not his 'game' anyway.

Here's to the boyz getting back on track!!!

LET'S GO FLYERS!!!!
