Salo´s injury

Hey,

i know the goalie topic was discussed a couple of times, but i am from germany and a big oilers fan and also a fantasy player.
Did any newspaper or sports channel reported something about Tommys injury and how long he will be sidelined? I love Ty´s playing and would like to know how long he will be the starter for the OIlers.
Thx & Cheers

Nobody seems to know how long it will take. Last I heard they were calling it a deep bone bruise on his hip, and recovery time for that is rather unpredictable.

He isn't even practising yet (from what I have read), meaning that once he gets back to practising, he is a week to two weeks away.

Right now the Oilers are in the position where they don't really need to push his progrress. Conklin has stepped in and up to the challenge. But eventually even the biggest workhorses need to take a break. And I am not so sure that Valiquette is ready for a start.

sounds good... thanks for the opinions...

i just picked up Conklin in my fantasy pool...he has been lights out! 1.91 GAA & .938 SV%, not to mention his 6 wins(1 SO). That pretty impressive.

i am a habs fan, but the oil have always been my team in the west. should be an interesting day Saturday....

Something about his wife divorcing/separating with him and taking off with their children back to Sweden.

Haven't heard much about it since, so it could be bunk; but if it isn't, best of luck to Tommy during this difficult situation.

I think Valiquette should be sent down to get some playing time, and whoever the current starter is in Toronto should be called up. I dont like the idea of Valley sitting for two weeks and then coming in ice cold, he needs some playing time. There is no way Valley will play on Saturday. We play Columbus after Montreal, So I'm sure Valley will play that game if Salo is not ready, but Conks will play Saturday.

I'm not even convinced that Conklin won't start on Tuesday...that's what, 3 days between games, so Ty gets a bit of a rest before the next game. I'd say the coaching staff isn't 100% sold on Conklin yet, but would be about ZERO % sold on Valiquette (well, maybe not ZERO, but you get the idea), so if Ty can play after that 'rest', he'll start.

IMO, of course.

The problem is that whoever is playing for toronto right now is an ahl backup. Not the type of guy you'd want to put in if Conks gets injured or has a very bad start to a game.
