Thanks. I tried to find his B-day but it's not listed on Hisenburg's site other then '91 I think (at work, don't feel like looking it up)

Rabid it's GO TIME! We all know this will be an entertaining series, something nuts always happens when these two teams go at it. As a Gopher fan I'm concerned with the law of averages....having to beat a good team for the 5th and 6th times on a season. But the homer in me is still there and hoping for the Gophers to make the Final Five.

Should be fun RabidHusky! I think I'm gonna go to the Saturday game....which is bad because anytime I go to Gopher hockey games they suck ballz.

Good luck SCSU.

With that i like this match up. SCSU is the one team that gets into a track meet with us. We need Kangas circa 2008 to show up. And i think we sweep. If Kangas is anyting less that super. it will be a race to 8.

Inconsistency killed us this year. Good win Gophers. Sucks I won't be able to see my boys at the Final Five but at least I won't have to worry about anything while watching 5 good games.

Motzko said on his last coaches show of the year that next year's freshmen will be Hanowski, Eddy, Johnson and Lee. This leads me to believe that either Weslosky or Dunn is gone but Weslosky says he's coming back. Stay tuned for this one, although it could be awhile, especially if Dunn transfers instead of going pro.

I know the WCHA people around these parts are gonna give me some grief for saying this but I really like the Huskies incoming class this fall. Kudos to Motzko and Co. for stepping up their recruiting as far as landing better and better players for the team.

BTW correct me if I'm wrong here Rabid, but wasn't Nick Oliver nursing a shoulder injury about the time he came back to Roseau to finish the year?

Oliver broke his collarbone before going back to Roseau then broke it again when he came back after Christmas then returned in Feb and finished out the season. That's why he's not on this year's incoming class list and my guess is that's why he's not played for Fargo since Roseau's season ended.
I love the kids we are getting and I love how Motzko is getting them, a lot of these kids (Benik, Dowd, Milan) have said Motzko was the only coach to make the effort to come see them and the fact he showed interest in them, peaked their interest in SCSU.
I doubt we'll get picked to do much, we never really are, but the teams we could put on the ice in the next couple seasons could be 2 of the best this school has ever seen.

Meet Nic Dowd

I think SCSU can boast a good incoming class. But freshmen classes just are not what they used to be. Each year there are 2-5 impact freshmen and very rarely are two on the same team.

SCSU may be able to boast 2 impact freshmen this year, all depends on how Hanowski and Lee adjust.

I do not see Hanowski starting hot of the bat no matter what. Going from MNHS A to the NCAA is huge. He by passed AA and the USHL in essence.

Will Lee be giving the start? I would think he splits to start.

Both guys after January will pick it up. But i do not think by the time they feel comfortable there will be enough time to really be called impace players over the course of the season.

We could have two impact freshmen, but they'll be Lee and Eddy. I actually think Hanowski will start the year off playing hard offensively, and he might actually have some stats to show for it. However, his defense will be horrific, and as he works to improve that part of his game, his offensive stats will slip. He should be pretty well-rounded by the end of the year.

While I don't expect Hanowski to come out blazing, he has the talent to do it. But I do think he'll have a freshman season like Marvin did, very slow start, better 2nd half. I think Lee will take over the job by the 2nd half of the season if not sooner and could be very special. Eddy is the enigma. There isn't a lot known about him but he was good at Woodbury and has been great for Sioux Falls. If he continues to progress he could be very special. Right now, I'd put our top 9 forwards against anyone in the league.
Lasch
Roe
Marvin
Festler
LeBlanc
Novak
Christian
Eddy
Hanowski

As far as I can surmise, he's a scrappy agitator with a non-stop motor, kind of in the mold of Roe, but a tiny bit bigger and with less ego. I don't think he has Roe's upside, but I think he's potentially a second unit PP freshman. As aggresive as he plays, he could be a second unit PK shotblocker too.

The Flyers drafted from SCSU. I'll have to put my eye back on St. Cloud this year to see Oliver Lauridsen.

He's a project to be sure. He's huge but his skating leaves a lot to be desired which is understandable for a guy his size. But he's got a mean streak which I like and he will get better.

6 Huskies drafted, I'm ok with that.

Honestly it doesn't surprise me and thiis a 3rd strike, you're out kind of thing for me. It also shows why Lee was here. I am surprised he is going to try and transfer for just one year when it seems pretty obvious school is not high on Weslosky's priority list.

Got the win, but that's not important in the exhibition. Yes it was sloppy but no one got hurt. Lots of things to work on before Miami this week. Hanowski with 2 goals is nice though

Their opener against Miami is one that I'd love to see. The only thing that concerns me where the Huskies go is how good the goaltending will be this weekend. The RedHawks have a lot of firepower coming back...and if you watch the game Rabid, be sure to watch Carter Camper. This kid is just deadly, but hey, SCSU could match him with Ryan Lasch. Where Miami is really good is on the defensive end and once they get into their perennial shutdown mode, they're darn near impossible to beat (although BU fans may tell you otherwise. ). But it should be a really good game and I look forward to hearing your report on it, if you do see it.
