This team needs a bag skate. Every weekend, for an hour on a Sunday morning for every game they don't show up to work for 60 minutes for. You don't show up either game, fine. Expect to skate till you puke for 2 hours early Sunday morning. Maybe then they'll learn to show up to work.

We've started slow under Motzko every season he's been here. It's the major lack of effort that's pissing me off, and they need to be held accountable for it. Losing is one thing, losing and not putting in the work is not ok.

3-1 lead disolves into a 4-3 deficit and they manage a 4-4 tie.
If they'd worked the whole game, they win. They didn't, and it's beyond frustrating at this point.
A 2-3-1 homestand against QU, BSU and UNO is just not acceptable.

Sounds like Motzko is getting fed up. Calls out that a d-man is taking too many dumb penalties that have cost us the past couple weekends (Hepp) Also says the rotation is over, Lee is the starter. Also says the team has "too many quiet guys"

Huskies get a commit from Markus Laurdisen, Oliver's little brother, a d-man for Green Bay 6'1" 200.

Tough loss, Novak has a wide open net....fires....d-man flies in to block it. UAA comes down, gets two shots on Lee, saves both, two huskies go down in front, Lee is down, puck is popped in over him. Good thing is the squad came back form 2 down to force ot. The effort may be turning.

Got the win, needed two major penalties from UAA to get it. The last one of which was bogus. Novak gets bumped into the boards, falls head first and was on the ice for 25 minutes. Once the 3rd started, they called the 5 and 10. We were already on a major PP, so we had 2:18 of 5x3, scored twice, held on for the 4-3 win.
Sloppy, but a win, and hopefully some confidence.

Bear with me here, since I have yet to see your boys play this year. But do you feel that inconsistent goaltending, particularly with Lee, has contributed to the Huskies rough start?

It's not just Lee, it's both of them but I think the goalies are getting more blame than needed. The team itself is just inconsistent. They will show up one night, totally suck in terms of effort the next. They will go on these mental lapses that just get them killed, especially for some maddening reason, in the third period. Personsally in terms of actual play, Lee has been the better of the two, he's been left out to dry by horrible D or beaten by really good shots. IMO Dunn just won't get any better than he is now, but neither he nor Lee have been consistent enough when called upon to take the job and run with it.
If the team would just show up with a consistent effort each night, the wins, and the confidence would come.

Yeah, teh D has looked shoddy considering the lineup. It should be a very solid bunch. Maybe the loss of Raboin hurt a lot more than anticipated. Also, these guys should be able to hang 4-6 goals a game with all the firepower up front. I'm expecting a lot better run after the holiday break. Like D-Sioux said, it's early.

Motzko is calling us "consistently inconsistent" which is very true. We are good one night, a pee-wee team the next. The goaltending has gotten better and coach has liked the performances he's gotten from them the past couple of weeks. Hopefully they can recharge with this week off and come back firing next weekend.
I am loving some "fans" calling for Motzko's head already.

Our D is not that good, we really miss Raboin. Goaltending has not been bailing them out, they've been average. Upperclassmen, Roe, Mosey especially, are not stepping up and playing well at all. Team looking like they have no effort and sadly no desire to give one. Motzko not benching people who need a wake up call (see above two) even if it might weaken us for a game.
Basically, a whole lot.

I got my first look at the Huskies last Friday vs. UND and here are some of my observations. Please feel free to comment.

Despite getting sacked with the loss I thought Lee played really well. Now if he can play like that the rest of the year, things could get turned around sooner rather than later.

The top (returning) guys weren't performing well (aside from maybe Leblanc). One thing I noticed was that the shots were not clean. What I mean by this is too many shots were missing the target and in a number of instances WAY off target. Watching SCSU last year, they were shooting the puck better. One reason could also be attributed to the way the team is moving the puck. The passes weren't crisp enough for my liking and again, having seen a ton of SCSU last season, they are very capable of making really crisp passes, especially with some of the speed on the team.

The most glaring problem that I saw against UND was the fact that the Huskies failed to take away the Sioux's space consistently. UND was given far too much room to move and with the talent that they have, that's dangerous. UND did a very good job of utilizing whatever space they were given and used their speed guys quite well. The bad news is SCSU couldn't match that. Furthermore, UND did a good job of clogging up the middle of the ice. When the Huskies did get the middle, they struggled with following through, whether it was creating a scoring chance or simply in transitioning. The Sioux also did a good job of capitalizing on their opportunities.

I paid particular attention to the Huskies freshmen in this game and the one player that really impressed me was Nick Jensen. He moves well and his positioning was very good. For the most part, he kept his game simple and IMO was really quite effective.

It'd be nice if Mosey, Roe and Hanowski showed up this weekend. No goals from any of them in 3 games and just 1 (by Mosey) in the last 7. Unacceptable.

How sad, Huskies actually play well, forwards and defense play maybe their best collective game all year, and the goaltending sucks. Dunn gives up one from center ice and a one handed back-hand on the rush from the blue line. He may not see the ice again after last night.

No one did. I do love how many people want Motzko fired because of a poor half season.
Basically these guys have zero confidence in their games right now.
