Start? Healthy scratch? This shouldn't be a question...
Malakhov seems to get a lot of crap on these boards. He takes some bad penalties sometimes, he had two braindead games in the early going, but every single game thread, or lineup propasal, I see two or three people saying he should be scratched, or gotten rid of, or whatever.
Living up in Rochester right now, I don't get to see too many Rangers games, so I mostly go from boxscores, but the two I have seen recently, Malakhov has done really well.
I know that stats can lie sometimes, but Malakhov is 2 G, 7 A, +6, 6 PIM in his last twelve games...how much can that lie?
There's a lot to complain about on this team, but right now, Malakhov is NOT a part of that, imo.
Is there a lot from games recently where he's done poorly, and the slack has been picked up by other guys on his line? I'm seriously asking b/c I don't get to see a lot of games...

Honestly, Maladog had been pretty solid and consistent for a good part of the season..Until last night where he was brutal...But he wasn't alone...

Last night he looked as if playing Hockey was the last place he wanted to be, i've gotten used to seeing those kind of performances the last few seasons....
Malakhov is like a lot of players on this team: long on talent, short on heart, guts and brains. He has his moments, but he doesn't bring it consistently enough over the course of an 82-game season to be much of an asset.
unfortunately some posters just spit out the same old lines no matter what and that includes "malakhov sucks", "get rid of malakhov for anything" and the same applys to mironov. except for the first 2 games, they have been the steadiest pair for the rangers this season.
Funny....I was thinking about this topic. He has been real solid and no one really has noticed; guess 6 years without a playoff appearance will make you look at things pessimistically. Then again it's pretty hard to find any positives about the whole situation. I miss the Garden in April, this mediocrity stinks.
Malakhov has been playing ok this year, but last nights game was just horrible. I have to say that I was against signing Mironov, but he's been pretty decent so far this year.

Well he does. Contract year, no surprise he's doing somewhat ok but 20 games of decent hockey does not make up for 3 crappy seasons.
