Wasn't that bad. Unless my memory's mistaken, 8 of those guys made it to the NHL even if most were only in for cup of teas. I haven't checked, but from memory....

Eric Charron (D)
Patrick Kjellberg (LW)
Peter Popovic (D)
Jean-Claude Bergeron (G)
Patrik Carnback (LW)
Sean Hill (D)
Haris Vitolinis (C) (Although that's spelt Harijs Vitolins)
Kevin Dahl (D)

For the '88 draft we still got a couple of decent picks like Kjellberg, Popovic and Hill. Then again, the whole Savard-Peanut era wasn't all that great at drafting; not horrible per say but definitely below average.

Just about every team makes bad picks every so often, for example the 2003 draft's first round and most of the second came before Patrice Bergeron (including Cory Urquarth).

And I think it's a little early to say that Kost was a bad pick, he's got great upside and if he can realize it, he'll be a good pick. The jury's still out on him. You have to keep in mind that he was tagged as a "project" pick even in his draft year, couple that with the Habs typical "taking time with our prospects" approach and it paints a pretty good picture on why Andrei isn't with the pro team yet.
