Centre Ice viewers rejoice! RDS tonight!

Just an FYI to all of those Centre Ice viewers out there. Tonight's feed for the the Habs-Flames game is coming from RDS, so for once we won't have to put up with the opposing team's homer announcers. Check your Centre Ice lineup for tonight, and you should see a little asterisk next to the game with "French only."

Heck, I went to record it on my DVR and even found the program description en français!

I have a few buddies coming over to watch the game. They don't know anything about hockey so should be funny when they hear the announcers...Go Habs

I'm from Ottawa and I'm very annoyed about Montreal games.

I have the center ice package, but only the basic cable package. I do not get RDS and would have to order a package that ups my monthly pay from 30-60. Since the games are available on RDS in my region, they are blacked out on Center Ice, and since I don't get RDS, I just can't watch them at all.

I'm very angry about this...even though I'm a Bruins fan, I still enjoy watching hockey and have a vested interest in Montreal now that Sergei Samsonov is there.

This is MOST annoying when the Bruins play in Montreal and I can't see the games because of cable stupidity and greed.

But you're there for the game, not the announcers. Trust me, you're better of this way.

I don't understand why you bother with getting center ice if the RDS feed is all you want, It is my understanding that RDS broadcasts all habs games?

It will be nice to hear something other than the other team's homer announcers.

I do not speak French but I will look forward to the RDS feed.

Why should I rejoice? I would rather watch the game in English.

I don't live in Montreal and don't have an english radio broadcast (internet doesn't sync with the TV). Not the end of the world that only RDS is showing it but I would of expected Sportsnet West to play it. Oh well.

Won't they have their own delays so that it doesn't sync?

Not really sure but I think, on TVU they'll broadcast Flyers vs Sabres...but flames vs habs might still be a possibility.

That's what they say on the forum

All times EST

7:30PM Calgary at Montreal (carrier is listed as RDS so might in french)
9:00PM Vancouver at Edmonton - May be joined in progress

It appears the games is on Flames PPV tonight...Center Ice normally shows those feeds, I wonder why it would be different tonight?

I got the Centre Ice package last season in order to see all the Habs games. Well with Expressvu, when you get Centre Ice they give you RDS as well. Even though I speak limited french I ended up watching the games on RDS instead of the opposing teams english telecast. Trust me guys, even if you don't speak french it is better to watch it on RDS. The picture quality is better (the American broadcasts always seem out of focus) and the sound quality is much better (you pick up the game sounds). And not to mention the blatant homer announcers (The Devil's announcers are the worst)

Needless to say, I did not get Centre Ice this season but got RDS instead.Of course living in Windsor I always got the Leafs games on HNIC growing up. Me and my dad would watch the french station to watch the Habs. So I guess I am used to watching hockey in french.

ET LE BUUUUTTTTT!!!!!!!! Go Habs

I beleive tomorrow nights game is also a RDS feed on center ice. I've had center ice for around 7 years, and last year was the first I ever recall of them actually using the french feed, it's about freaking time! I'd rather see the game broadcast in any language then not at all, so hopefully this means that instead of the usual 77 or so Hab games they show, perhaps this time they will show all 82, which would be freaking outstanding if so. Plus I think it's cool to get the games in French, although my French is very poor, it's way better then having to listen to some dork head babble on about how good there team is since most of the center ice feeds are the other teams announcers.

To All Habs Fans based in the USA with NHL Center Ice!

I've had the NHL center Ice package for three years now through Direct TV. Since tonight's game is only carried by the french network RDS, we will not see it!

I have sent letters to Direct TV asking them why we cannot get the NHL channel and the Center Ice feed from Canada if they do not have the channel on the US feeds.

One a RARE occasion, they will put the RDS feed through, but it only occurs once or twice a season.

We pay for NHL Center Ice, but we seems to miss about 8-10 games every year because of this.

Call the 1-800-DIRECTV and let them know that you would like to see the Direct TV feed from Canada and an option to buy the NHL network.

If enough of us call, maybe we can get some action.

NOTE: I just called DirectTV and the game WILL BE BROADCAST IN FRENCH THROUGH RDS on Channel 764!!!

As long as I can watch the game, I can deal with not being able to understand the audio. The game is listed on 764 as you stated.

I don't know what you're talking about. Last season I watched about 3-4 Habs games in french on center ice. They were shown perfectly (although one of the games vs Atlanta had no volume until the 3rd period).

Tonight's and tommorows game wasnt listed on the internet guide until a couple days ago. Also, Center-Ice does not guarantee that they show every single NHL game of the season.,

It does work for some persons...but the majority has had the same problem as me. I prefer the 1.5 version but it's just me. It's for avoiding stuff like '' I went to the the library but the software didn't work so I returned home''.
