New Habs Rumors (french blog)

As always, take them for what they're worth.

http://montrealhabstrade.blogspot.com

Basically its being "reported" that three teams have called Gainey about possible trades to bolster both organizations. The possibilities are:

a) Brian Leetch
b) (St.Louis) Brewer for Perezhogin/Danis/Lapierre
c) (PHX) Morris + draft pick for Perezhogin/Kostitsyn (which Gainey declined)
d) (Calgary) Hamrlik for Bonk and Perezhogin

Assuming these rumors are true and have been discussed, the obvious best move for the habs at this point IMO it Roman Hamrlik for Radek (salary dump) Bonk and Perezhogin. Once our D-men are healthy this would clearly lead to a trade of one of our potential UFA's sometime this year to bolster our offense

thoughts?

I'm sorry to inform you that, yesterday, someone put the same link in a thread, he also add that the blog's creator predicted the Ribeiro for Niinimaa trade a month before it happen

I would take Brewer for Lapierre
I would like to see more of Perez, especially with Kovalev
Danis is good, I would like to keep him and trade Abeisher or Huet instead
I have Bonk in my pool and he would be awesome in Calgary with Iginla but I prefer keeping Bonk & Perez than having Hammer

Dismissing the validity, Hamrlik is hardly a salary dump, as he makes more than Bonk and Perezhogin combined. Not to mention that Hamrlik isn't that good.

the Brewer trade is better, but we're picking up another $1m in salary which would pretty much eliminate trading for a centre later in the season. I'd rather not trade Danis, anyway, because unless we keep Huet and Aebi long-term, we're going to need a backup, and I don't want it to be Price.

The Morris proposal is an outright lie, because it makes no sense for either team. Morris is another Souray, both in terms of ability and salary ($3.9m!!).

Brian Leetch wouldn't fit here, and I doubt he'd consider playing in Montreal anyway.

What's Morris like anyway? http://www.forecaster.ca/cbc/hockey/player.cgi?0133 says that he's a number 2 D. Giving up Perez for a #2D and a draft pick doesn't seem too bad.

I'd rather discuss trade proposals than analysing statistics after 4 games, as is going on in other threads. I don't see why we can't discuss the ramifications of a proposed trade.

I've never heard of any place so strictly defining the word rumour, or where they can come from.

He's an offensive defenseman. He is a younger Souray, with better passing abilities, a worse shot, and slightly better defensive instincts. The problem is that he gets paid $4m on a pre-lockout contract, and isn't worth it.

i'd so that trade, then we can play lats on the 3rd, and bring up lapiere to play the 4th.
then when we get some D back, we can trade souray to get a center

edit 4 million! forget it unless they also take bonk lol

Maybe we should edit the original post: remove the link and call it a proposal!

Thanks, I didn't know about his salary. How many years does he have left?

Believe it or not, that's not a pre-lockout contract.
Morris was re-signed by Phoenix to a three-year deal last spring (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2360230) with a cap hit of $3,916,667.

Even though all these probably won't happen. I like the Brewer for Perezhogin/Lapierre deal. If Perez goes then Kost could play and if Lapierre goes, well then not much changes except getting a former Olympic defenseman. I still think Brewer is a top 2 defenseman in this league, he's just had a couple rough years.

I don't get why Mods close threads like these...A rumor is a rumor...No matter what the "source" you need to take it with a grain of salt...I wish they'd just allow us to disguss what we want to. I mean, it's basicaly just 3 trade proposals and 1 signing proposal...

Im pretty sure this is 99.9% false but if this is true I don't understand why Gainey did not do the Brewer trade yet.He would be a great fit.Loosing Perezhogin would hurt a bit but Latendresse could move up of a Kost call up to replace.Dannis we really don't need cause Huet is there for 3 years and after that the #1 job will belong to price for a very very long time

Then create the threads without claiming there's a source cause it's no different then someone just making stuff up out of thin air. If someone posts a rumor, then HF want's a link to a real source, not something that could just be made up. This is something the owners of HF want, so take your issues up with them. Until then all threads that have rumors in it will be closed if they don't have a legit source.
