What is your opinion on this. Something drastically needs to be done. 1-4-1, with all signs to 1-5-1 with Tampa coming up.

While its still early, something needs to be done...

What is your opinion?

I agree...clarke becoming coach may not be it...but something drastic does need to be done. A blockbuster trade maybe?

Clarke isn't Isiah Thomas. At least Clarke has made the playoffs in the past. He has said before that he is not qualified to be the coach, so that will never happen.

I thought the devils put the GM in as coach? I dont know what needs to be done right now but i really hope that a 9-1 loss is something that is going to light a fire here. I think Leetch would be great to have about now.

I wouldn't want to drag a future hall of famer into this mess to finish out his career on a low point.

Keith Primeau for headcoach. There I said it. The team would lsiten to him. May not be an X and O guy, but he can lead

Clarke will wait until at least the end of the month before he starts with the trades. It's tough to do a knee jerk reaction type trade after a loss like that last night.

Good point but Buffalo handing us our ***** on a plate has been happening for a while now...nothing that happens with this team will be knee jerk. By now EVERYONE in the league knows how to beat our big hard hitting blue line....that can't skate backwards or lateraly very well...now that they're not allowed to touch anyone in frony of the net, they're useless. Changes have to be made.

If people in the area stop going to Flyers games, stop watching on tv and stop giving a damn about this team, treating it like a red headed step child, maybe the NHL will re-vamp itself to suit our needs... all we have to do is become a piece of **** franchise with no market and the NHL will polish our knobs. Anyone with intelligence will get the undertones of what I just said.

The problem IMO in Phili isn't the coach: its Clarke itself. For years he couldn't grab a good goaltender from the UFA market or trade for one. He instead wasted his money on useless players (Hatcher, Rathje recently and now Sanderson and Nedved)). I personnaly expected and still expect Phili to miss the playoffs this season.

Phili could be a better team if only they could accept to sacrifice a forward or two to finaly land a goaltender. There are several of them available currently.

Again, name me even ONE playoff series we've lost due to goaltending. Checkmanek was left out to dry against Ottawa--we scored a lousy two goals in five games. Esche gave up two in game 7 against Tampa, sorry, but ya gotta score more than once in a game 7 to win.

I think he's refering to the 90's when we had Roussel, Hextall (return) and Soderstrom. We lost the cup in 97 to Detroit because of goaltending.

How about Clarke pulling Devils Lou? He took over as a head coach.
Things did not work out good for NYR that year.

seeing as how esche may be on his way out soon, how about an inverted NYI move and move clarke to backup goalie?
