Gaborik Injured

Here we go again - another year, another Gaborik groin injury. At this point, the team is calling it a "mild groin strain", and he'll be re-evaluated tomorrow. I doubt we'll see him on the ice for at least a week, maybe longer. They won't take any chances.

Guess now we'll really find out how deep this new team actually is...

****! Keep him off the ice until he is fully healed! Don't mess around with it like last year. ****!

yeah especially due to the teams good start and added scoring of demetra rolston ... there is absolutley no need to rush him and risk further injury

Oh-oh. There may be more to this than we realized. The Minneapolis StarTribune is now reporting that...

Quote:
Gaborik has seemed to be laboring lately. He was limping badly after practice Thursday with his left groin wrapped. Asked if he was OK, Gaborik brushed it off as routine treatment to keep on top of his groin problems.
http://www.startribune.com/1330/story/756928.html

Sounds like he was already injured, and aggravated it tonight. I think he's going to be sitting out a few. We should know more tomorrow.

I think the only way we are going to win this game is on the PP.

I think he's referring to all of the injury prone players that have been getting injured this past week.

Forsberg,Havlat,Gaborik etc... Nagy will be next.

So with gabby out, what do you think the lines will be? I have to think bouchard, white, and rolston stay intact, if possible since they've looked so good.

NOOOOOOOO!!! WHY??? I have Gabby in my pool and was so happy with what a great start he was off to playing with Demitra. It's just not fair ....can the guy ever stay healthy , what is with the tender groin he's not 70 years old. He's a young guy and does alot of conditioning and traning in the off season , I just don't see why this keeps happening to him.

I really hope this isin't serious and he just misses tonight's game against San Jose and maybe a couple more. I need to know what the status is cause if it's serious and he's injured for a while I'll try and trade him and pull one over on the rest of the pool. This really does suck just a horrible break for Minnesota. It BETTER be minor and he better rest and treat it properly. Hopefully he is back for Wenesday or Friday.

Can you guys post the lastest updates on him whenever you know something and even PM with the latest. I'll check around mysefl but would like to hear from you guys.

I sure hope not along with many canuck fans. I never have guy's in my hockey pool in our division no matter how tempting it may be.

You must not win alot of hockey pools.

Kiprusoff,Iginla,Phaneuf,Gaborik,Demitra,Fernandez ,Sakic,Smyth,Hemsky,Sykora,Roloson and others.... you're missing out on alot of great players.

Count on it, guys. We'll be posting as soon as we know anything. Right now, the team's official update is that they won't know for sure what they're dealing with until Monday at the earliest. It doesn't sound like there'll be an announcement until sometime Monday afternoon or evening, and we'll let you know right away. Until then, I think it's safe to assume he's out for at least a week or two.

I guess this is good news

Minnesota Wild: An MRI on Marian Gaborik on Monday showed nothing more than a mild groin strain. However, the team intends to proceed with caution and will not rush him back. - TSN

One wonders if the injuries are because he's so darned explosive - when he takes off, there's nothing like it in hockey. I imagine it does put a heck of a strain on those leg muscles.

I'm certain of it.

Last year, I suggested pretty much the same thing, and people laughed it off, saying it was just a run of bad luck. But I think it's clear that it has to be something in his skating. He's been checked out by every doctor in the Northern hemisphere, consulted trainers and physiologists, and yet this is what - his 4th such injury? A hyena his first season, a groin strain and a hip flexor strain last season, and another groin strain this year. It has to be something that's different from most other people about the way he skates, and the one thing that's different about the way he skates is his explosive acceleration.

I don't know what the answer is. What do you do, tell him to slow down? I'm starting to think this just may be a chronic problem with him throughout the course of his career. I hope not, but it's really starting to seem that way.

Didn't Gaborik also have a surgery for a sports hernia in 03, besides after the 01 season?

Get him to work with a skating coach and a kinesiologist to change his style a little bit?

Or just scratch him when we go places with soft ice.
