Update: Gaborik (groin) has started skating under the supervision of a specialist, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. There's no timetable for his return to practice, however.

Recommendation: The best-case scenario has Gaborik returning in early to mid-December, but it may take much longer.

Read between the lines, fantasy owners. Best to drop him and pick up someone else.

I really disgaree with that! As you guys know by now from my posts on here I am a big Gaborik fan and am eagerly awaiting his return. I am trying to be as patient as possible and wait it out but the fact that his return keeps getting pushed back and he just started skating this past weekend AND there is still no timetable for his return (early to mid December is not very specfic) is getting very frustrating and even more so disapointing.

It's a damn shame cause obviously you all know and all fantasy owners know what Gabby is capable of he could just stay healthy. Him and Demitra were just starting to tear it up and get some good chemistry going until he went down. What makes it even more frustrating is it was only supposed to be day to day ....2 weeks max and called a mild groin strain . I think everyone knows just how bad it was based on his past and history with groin problems.

Now I gotta say it is best to keep him out as long as it takes for the groin to completley heal and he is doing everything he can by seeing the specialist in Vancouver. Better he gets healed now so he is better for the rest of the season , but everyone knows how injury prone and brittle he is going to be.

And don't get me wrong as patienet as I have been with Gabby I have been trying to trade him and find a taker. I keep hoping he will be back by the latest December 10th if not a few days earlier. Why not come back and ease into it to get comfortable again by only playing a few minutes a game ...how else is he going to know how he feels until he tests it.

Anyway I'm contiunuing to hope for any good news.....but I don't know how much more I can take. I am just a fantasy owner...I can't imagine what you Wild fans are going through.

PS. Good Luck Tonight...Sens are gonna be very hungry!

Just a little tongue-in-cheek my man. Although dropping him isn't the worst idea you could get. 50-60 point player, injuries considered. I'm sure if the league you are in is a re-draft, 10-12 teams, there are probably a ton of guys producing right now as Marian takes up a roster spot. I guess if you've held onto him this long, probably gotta go the distance and just wait it out...however long it may be.

Yeah, it is a given that Gaborik and of course Havlat are guaranteed to have a month or two off to injury.

Meh, it was a calculated risk.

Him and Demitra were predicted to be an incredible pairing. Who knew that he'd be out in the first ten games?

I really don't mean to bug anyone or be annoying especially you Wild Thing but I am really curious about this now:

Since Gaborik started skating at the end of last week with his specialist and returned to Minnesota today to continue skating and doing hard training while the Wild are on their road trip ....is their a a new timetable for his return?

I heard after a few days on his own he will be rejoining the team for practice by the weekend or early next week. So from there after a full week of skating on his own and than a full week of practicing with the team ....I hear there's a good chance he will be ready to return to a game first week of December (either Dec 1 or 2nd or the 5th or 7th) That would make alot of sense since he would feel quite good by then.

What are you guys hearing ...let me know and no this is not all I care about I am just really curious cause I could be on the verge of trading him.

Now Demitra might be out...

Minnesota Wild: RW Pavol Demitra (concussion-like symptoms) and C Wes Walz (strained hip flexor) didn't practice and will be game-time decisions. The Wild have called up Benoit Pouliot from the AHL. - Minneapolis Star-Tribune

So if gaborik's return is now planed for mid-december, he should get back on the ice sometime within the next week..... could who please announce it in this thread when it will happen?

Yes! For you, with the adorable avatar, I will announce it!

He's on the ice now. He says he's at about 70 or 80 percent, but that he knows that the last 20 or 30 percent will be the hardest. He hopes to begin practicing with the team soon, but isn't really comfortable predicting a specific date. Reading between the lines, my guess is that he'll suit up and skate with the team sometime this week, but I could be way off the mark on that.

As for when he actually plays again, that's anybody's guess. They don't even seem to be thinking in those terms. They're taking it one step at a time - see how he handles skating on his own, then ease him into practicing. Then, they'll evaluate how he handles that, and make a decision on when he might return. Until he starts practicing, there's no point in even guessing, because it's just not knowable.
