That is right I said it. I know it is only been eight games, but after tonight’s 4-1 domination of the Sharks I am convinced we will be a force in the West this year. We beat one of the media's and HFboards favorites to make the Stanley Cup Finals without our star player! Yeah there will be those who say it is early, or the Sharks had an off night, blah, blah, blah. What makes it ok to say the Sharks, Ducks, and Sabres are some of the best teams with their good starts and not the Wild? We have one of the best coaches (if not the best coach) in the NHL, awesome depth, scoring potential besides Gaborik, and Manny is playing fantastic. That my friends is a recipe for success. I posted this here because I know if I posted this on the main board there would be a lot of Wild bashing, but I defend my opinion. The Wild are for real.
I am impressed how the Wild did without Gabby. I really hoped they would do well, but I held my breath. Awesome! Hopefully his injury is not that serious and will return soon and healthy. The Wild Rule!!!
4-1 seemed a VERY lucky result for the Wild tonight. I thought they were outplayed for much of the game, and certainly dominated physically. We did forecheck pretty well, and the goals came as a result of tenacity and speed. Fernandez has been outstanding. Given they had just played Anaheim the night before, and were missing Gaborik, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but for a couple lucky bounces this road trip could easily have ended 0-3.
What a gritty performance last night ! ... With little rest between games and without the normal evening flight routine we really stepped up to the challenge.
We let up a little in the 3rd, but the Sharks had no answer to the way we out worked them in the 2nd. It seemed to me that we could done even more damage than we did. Hey, I'm forgetting that we had to dress two farm team call-ups and put Burns on wing.
