If he was a Flyers fan, don't you think he'd know there's no Brad Richards on that team?

No, he's obviously NOT a Philly fan, buy a clue and quit assuming things.

Not very sound reasoning when you look at it from that angle. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Boyes and Richards are that far apart. I'm just questioning the reasons.
I'm not using stats as my sole reasoning, just saying that I don't have much else to point to. And throwing in a comparison of Ovechkin and Sundin has no relevance or barring.

Boyes and Richards are only 3 years apart. Both have 1 full NHL year under their belt as well as some (much less in Richards' case) AHL experience. Both players are 6 ft and around 190lbs. They had similar numbers in the OHL, regular season and playoffs alike. I haven't had much chance to see Richards play. I know he's a leader type player who brings a lot of offense. I have seen Boyes play a lot and I know he's a offensive player who is not much of a leader. He workds hard and plays both ways. He doesn't quit on plays and can be physical at times. He has 75 points in 90 career games. Richards has 34 in 87 games. This might not be the best measuring stick, but what I'm saying is at the moment, it would seem Boyes is the better player. Richards could/should and will surpass Boyes and become a better play in due time.

Well thought out post. Hard to say what will happen in the future with players. The only thing I can say in Richards defence would be he has played less minutes then Boyes did in those games. I'm thinking also that Boyes was on the top line aswell where Richards might have been 2nd or 3rd line. I'm not a Philly or Bruin fan as you can probably tell but my brother loves the Bruins and he would puke if this happened.

salut

The Flyers have about $3.65 million in cap space after assigning Baumgartner and recalling Grant.

Boyes, Mara, Murray, B. Stuart = $9,587,166 (remaining cap dollars as of today)
Eager, Hatcher, Meyer, Richards = $4,409,164 (remaining cap dollars as of today)

That means this trade would put the Flyers somewhere around $1.5 million over; even waiting until the trade deadline (which I assume the OP wasn't intending), the Flyers are still over unless they dump at least one player making at least $2 million off their current roster (Calder, Forsberg, Gagne, Gauthier, Rathje, Pitkanen) or have one of those guys go down for the season due to injury. Barring that, there's no way to make this work within the salary cap. So yes ... the Flyers have room - but not enough room to swing this.

Oh, and there's still that whole "the Flyers aren't going to trade Mike Richards" thing which hasn't been explained away.

The trade proposal was for Brad Richards. That should explain just about everything.

lol that'll work just as well as the Flyers trading Brad Richards because the Bruins have Jason York, not Mike.

That's the point (at least part of)

That was supposed to be inferred...the other part is the obvious lop-sided deal...this time in Bruins favour.
