Proposals for Mathieu Schneider

I have never started one of these proposal threads before. But I am interested to know what everyone thinks Mathieu Schneider would get in a trade?

The Wings are deep on the blueline and Niklas Kronwall can take Schneiders PP minutes. The Wings need some help at the winger position BADLY.

Schneider is still a top notch offensive defensman, who could really help a teams PP. And he is still pretty decent defensively. This is his UFA year, so a team wont be locked into a huge contract.

Anybody have any good and REALISTIC proposals?

Thanks.

37 year old defenseman making over 3 mil? Still has something to contribute, though.

Brad May and Brisebois. Maybe a late pick, too. Take Parros, too.

Yep, May is a winger. Add Brisebois, throw in Parros, and you have one Dman and both LW and RW, which you can build around!

They can have Turgeon, too -- he could center the line.

Man, I hate to give such a sweet deal to the Wings, but we're in retool mode, and need to move some of these quality veterans.

Why would you want to trade away Schneider? he is the best offensive treat in Detroit right now. On a Detroit Red Wings who has some serious problems offensively. Doesn't make sense at all.

If you can get someone who can put the puck in the net for him it's not a bad move. Plus if we counting that much on a blueliner for scoring mine as well get a real firesale going cause the team is in serious trouble.

It makes perfect sense. Lets be honest, the Wings are not a going to win a Stanley Cup this season. Schneider is a 37 year old, pending UFA defensman who wont be back next season.

Kronwall's time is now, and he can easily take Schneiders minutes. Lebda should be a full time defensman now as well, and trading Schneider gives him a fulltime job.

They either trade him and get something in return, or they keep him...have a disappointng playoff run and lose him for nothing in the offseason.

What doesnt make sense to you?

No proposal, but I think he'd be great in San Jose.

I'd do this just to get rid of Williams.

I was thinking about that last night with the Sharks playing in Detroit. They have a team than can go a long ways in the playoffs but are really young especially on the blueline with McLaren being the oldest guy at 29. A solid vet back there could go a long ways for them come playoff time.

yours with all due respect... no way should schneider command a player like torres, nor should kevin lowe even like schneider enough to consider a player like torres...

ive said it many times before. Torres for Schnieder would be perfect for both teams. Wings get their big, tough scoring winger who can play on the top 2 lines and Oil get an experienced puck moving dman and a PP QB (when on his game is one of the best). Schnieder would flourish in edm.

Its ridiculously one-sided. Oilers give up one of their best young players, and a future 30 goal scorer, for an aging impending UFA dman.

A 2nd or 3rd pick and a prospect is more reasonable, given the $.

I like this deal for the Wings. As a Sens fan, I won't make a proposal for him - we don't need/want him. Especially at his price tag.

no it isn't perfect, not in the slightest... i can't see a justification for trading a real heart guy that can score, pass, and hit, while playing in both ends of the ice, while being so young still.. for a 38? 37 year old puck mover who can run a PP..

the oilers seem fine right now with goals for anyway to start the season.. besides, a trade for that veteran dman will not come until the trade deadline anyhow, it wouldn't make any sense to trade for an old guy now, and potentially have him bomb, slow down even more, get injured etc... wait until the deadline, see how his year goes

not a perfect trade
