Things We have noticed about Stevens

I noticed that he adjusted his plan mid way through by getting his Dmen to fake shots and move laterally to avoid the blocked shots. Hitch never seemed to do that. Just switched the lines .

Anyone else notice anything he did?

This may shock you but some NHL players can actually figure out when to fake a shot and when not to. Stevens is not playing PS3 and using the fake shot feature from the bench.

I noticed that he didn't just roll the lines.

He would put out the Richards line, then Forsberg's, then back to Richards' if they had a good shift. He double-shifted whoever was playing well which I thought was nice.

I know...Kyle Calder and RJ Umberger looked great out there, and he didn't even have Sanderson in.

i still think ben eager needs much more consistent ice time. ~10 minutes IMO
also can't say i agree with scratching sanderson. this cannot be commonplace

Yup. After just one game Stevens did so many things Hitch has never done.
He must be better.

I noticed that he allowed the players time to enjoy the win on the ice and met them in the room- leave after his coaches hand shake. I liked that he didn't stand there and scower them or pat them on the back, no mixed messages. Excellent start and finish, I know we were pumped but the skated well and looked in game form from start to finish. I love RJ on the penalty kill and the big line united for PPs.

I know that it is right now, im just saying there are some people on the boards who would find something wrong in a win like that. Some people should just enjoy a win that this team desperatly needed.

I found something wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why was Sanderson scratched? Not complaining, just curious. He has been one of our more productive players so far if this is just to get Triston Grant in the lineup I think it is really stupid.

Otherwise, congrats to Stevens on his first win.

See what he's got, create hunger amongst players.

if you watched even one period you should have noticed. but hey we cant all be perceptive i guess.

as far as the comment on the blocked shots the entire team made an effort in the third to do that. trust me it was addressed.

I liked the aggressiveness on the PK. It was something that the Flyers really wouldn't do with Hitch, but it turned out to be effective.

i think that number will decrease when we dont have players in their early NHL careers. once jonsson and picard get some more games under their belt.

I am all for that, but you dont scratch one of you most productive players to date. I say if you are going to put someone like Grant in there, rotate him with Kapanen. That way Kapanen will stay fresh for the end of the year.

Dare I say after one game that although Hitch misused the youngsters, Stevens is misusing the verterans

4-1 Penguins on like 8 shots. Nitty hung out to dry. Players are still turning the puck over constantly and the other team is skating circles around us. And here we were told Hitchcock was the problem

Edit (3 minutes later): 5-1, Yes Hitchcock was definitely the problem!!!!

I see more desire, it's just the wrong group of players. I don't think you'll see it in the third because this game is cooked and their confidence is even lower than in Buffalo. But Thursday night and the start of tonight, there was definitely a spark and that looseness we were hoping for.

But when you look at it...

Hatcher and Rathje still stink. They're slow, useless players. Don't give me **** about Rathje's "positioning". His ****** positioning was the reason for Crosby's second goal.

We're trying to break in 2 new defensemen.

There's still no goal scoring.

Esche AND Niittymaki are not that good.
