Cairns, anyone?

OK, I'm partial to this guy, I've always wanted him in a Habs uniform. Rumour mill has it that he's on the block as part of the Isles cost-cutting program.

Anyway, hear me out - I know a lot of people are gonna think 'we don't need another goon', think of him more of an add to Defense. If we can muster a trade like the Anaheim one posted earlier (ridding us of Rivet, for example) then we add cheap labour ($900K), experience and tough as hell.

Even if we don't trade Rivet, let's just insert someone who will make the next dork who runs Theo pay with his teeth!

Cairns is too useless to give up a prospect or pick. We could use the size and grit, but simply don't have room for him.

On top of all that the Habs are looking to make room for Komisarek, and are looking to move defensemen.

Gainey wouldn't budge, especially if the Isles are looking to cut the payroll, well we wouldn't make good partners.
