GDT: Anaheim Vs. Minnesota 10/27/06

VS.
(7-0-2) (8-1-0)

I think that Minnesota will avenge their one loss of the season and beat the Ducks 4-3.

2-0 Wild. Manny shutting the door, White and Demitra with the goals.

Well Manny isn't playing, only Backstrom but he will still be solid but don't expect an SO.

2-1 Wild, a close game with a lucky goal by Rolston

Where did you get that? Wild.com says Manny will start.

"Manny Fernandez had the day off on Thursday, but he will be back to make his 10th start of the season tonight."

That was kind of like an attempt not to look like turtleing, but actually doing the turtle.

Great game! Some random thoughts:

When Johnsson took that penalty in OT, I thought it was lights out. But when the game went to shootout, I knew it was lights out for the Ducks. They have a scary team though, S. Niedermayer looks like he doesn't even have a set position out there, he is just all over the place. Ducks are definitely the team to beat in the West this season.

I still like him a lot, but I really wish Nummelin would stop coughing up the puck in our zone. It's great that he has confidence in his passing, but sometimes the best play is a simple one.

The first fight was really funny, kudos to Boogie for not killing the guy, he took it really easy on him, but still let him know that he made a mistake with a solid punch in the end. The second fight, Fridge got his face rearranged, looked like a broken cheekbone by the way Fedoruk went down and held his face right away. Solid night for the Boogieman.

Having Manny and Mikko, we are not going to lose many shootouts this season. Talk about money.

Bomber made a very nice debut as a third announcer - very smooth and well-spoken. Added an entertaining dimension to the broadcast with the "blueberry muffin"

That one had some playoff atmosphere to it, that's for sure. The Ducks (tempted to call them the Pochards ) are a heck of a team. Fun game; I wish we would've scored more.

That was one hell of a game. I kept thinking about how far both of these teams have come since they slugged it out in the Western Conference Finals three years ago, and I couldn't help wondering if we're seeing a preview of this season's 3rd round series.

At any rate, this one's getting burned to DVD for my rapidly growing collection. I think I'd better order up some more empty jewel cases, if the Wild are going to keep playing like this. Hope Fedoruk likes eating with a straw, because I've got a hunch he's seen the last of solid food for several weeks.

He looks a little lost without Gabby to me. Made a nice drive to the net and drew a penalty on one play. But I can't wait til Gabby is back...I think he misses him bigtime...

Yeah, it was one hell of a game, but honestly my enjoyment of it is considerably dampened this morning by finding out how badly Fedoruk is hurt. I don't care if he did start it, I hate to see anyone get hurt that badly.

Aside from that, I'm looking forward to the next time we meet. We may have the beginnings of a pretty good natural rivalry here. I think these teams are going to be playing each other in the spring for many years to come.
