TSN Ice Chips - Abeischer in Nets

Updated Friday, October 27
Montreal Canadiens: Lines as of Friday:

Forwards:
Higgins - Koivu - Ryder
Latendresse - Plekanec - Kovalev
Perezhogin - Bonk - Samsonov
Murray - Begin - Downey

Defence:
Souray - Rivet
Markov - Komisarek
Niinimaa - Streit

Aebischer will start Saturday against the Leafs

Notes: Downey took part in his first full practise since being concussed by a Robyn Regehr hit. Johnson took a maintenance day. He should play Saturday and Downey will likely sit. Carbonneau said he started Samsonov last night in Boston because it was his old team. Samsonov played on the 3rd line against Boston and practised in the same spot today - this after his agent yesterday alluded to Samsonov wanting out. Today Samsonov said he "wants to work things out." Carbonneau says he plans to keep Samsonov with Johnson and Bonk and doesn't expect him to be happy about being demoted. - TSN

Take out Murray not Johnson.

Good news that Downey could be back though.

This title is missleading. It looks like Jonhson was just out for the practice and should play on saterday.

If Johnson is out.. it's the worst decision ever made by any coach in any sport, unless he's hurt...

Edit:

Never mind I overreacted because of the title..

OK, now what about the real issue with the 2nd and 4th line left wingers...

Johnson didn't attend practice but will be in the game.

From the article, the lines for saturday should be the same as Thursday which is;

Higgins - Koivu - Ryder
Lats - Pleks - Kovalev
Sammy - Bonk - Johnson
Perez - Begin - Murray

Unfair to Perez, but might work for the team...we'll see. Personally I think Perez' speed would be very useful to the second line as Toronto's defense is slow.

If we lose tommorow night and the 4th line outchances the second line Carbonneau is going to have ALOT of explaining to do.

Yea, please correct the title... it sounded like something happened to Johnson.

On another note, nice to see Downey will soon be able to play again.

Aebischer in nets tomorrow is a bit of a surprise too, but I think either goalie could get the job done.

Personally I thought Lats looked better on the 2nd than 4th, still not as good as Perez would've looked but we'll see how things go.

That's only normal, since a player gets more ice time and better linemates on the 2nd line... Anyone should look better.

Not really... Some players look better with limited icetime, such as Downey, Begin and Murray.

Well he's a robot you know...They gotta oil up his joints and recalibrate his Prime Directive capacitator...

I'd buy that for a dollar!

But I think it's funny how every one who thought Johnson was out first thought it was a coaching decision....my first thought was an injury.

Well I saw, from Canadiens Express, the 4th line looking better than it has in every game this season.

Lats to made a couple nice plays but was a non-factor overall. Plekanec and Kovalev seemed to have much more jump. This again is just from the game in an hour thing on RDS.

But my god, if management wants Perezhogin to pay his dues, the kid is doing it and then some. One of our best players this year defensively and in the corners, relentless on the forecheck and creating chances. Everything accept a little luck on the scoresheet.

Remember you said in the pre-season that Latendresse was working his butt off and Perezhogin was getting a free ride? My how the tables have turned.

True, but Perezhogin has turned his game around. His work ethic looks 100% better than the majority of last season and he has consistently been one of our best forwards.

Perezhogin was used horribly last season (IMO), even when he was playing good. Sooo the 4th line actually looked decent last night, he should still be playing more than he is. He's earned it.
