Craig Rivet trade value

Bob Gainey wants to make room for Komisarek and he is ready to trade a RD. I think that Quintal wants to finnish his career with Montreal and the habs needs the passing skills of Brisebois. So Rivet is the guy to deal. What is Rivet trade value around the league?

Rivet is probably worth an overpaid, underproducing stiff (ie a forward version of himself).

I would gladly trade Rivet to Carolina for an original recording of that Brass Bonanza song they used to play at Hartford Civic Center.

depends on how much of his salary the habs will pick up. if the answer is "none", then you'll probably be able to get a tyson nash autographed puck for him (and even THAT may be too generous)

He's a capable defenseman, but that contract kills his value.

I wouldn't give up anything higher then a 3rd... maybe not even that.

What if they decide to play Rivet as a RW?

Although I'm saying this as a joke, it wouldn't surprise me much given the strange decisions this team seems to be taking.

My proposal is

to St-Lou : Craig Rivet
to MTL: Eric Bouginicki or what ever his name is.

Before accepting a trade, you should inquire about the contract/length.

USA today says he's signed through 06-07.

Does anybody know the break down of what he will earn each season through the end of the contract?

Thanks.

He signed a 12M 3years extention .

This year 3.5M
Next Year 4M
06-07 = 4.5M

Yay... another midget...

I highly doubt that Rivet's going anywhere.

RD depth chart
1-Brisebois
2-Rivet
3-Quintal (UFA)
4-Komisarek
5-Archer

RD depth chart - Next year
1-Brisebois
2-Rivet
3-Komisarek
4-Archer

Remove Rivet and it's pretty weak...

It is a 12M contract indeed, but I beleive it's over 4 years, not 3. NHLPA has his base salary listed at 2.5M this year.
