Would NYR be interested in Conroy

Conroy is a defensive minded, older center with great wheels and great puck distribution that is constantly in the 50 - 70 point range. I figure he would fit well on the 2nd line with Shanny. He also has some size and is great on the penalty kill. Think of a more refined Matt Cullen.

His cap hit is a hair over two million and he seems to fill a Rangers need.

L.A is looking to get younger yet compete. Some think Conroy will require a 1st rounder plus. Some think more in the range of a 2nd rounder.

Would the Rangers put together a package of Rachunek and a pick? (2nd - 3rd round)

Do others think he would be a nice fit. And with only a year left on his contract he wont block the kids.

does he have a year remaining on his contract or is this his last season. If this is his last season I would give the Kings Rachuneck and a 3rd round pick.

Craig Conroy is signed through 2007-08 with a $2.394 million cap number. The Rangers have Matt Cullen signed for another three seasons and Michael Nylander has a player option for 2007-08

I would pass on Conroy. He is 35 years old and not much of an upgrade with another year remaining on his contract

Per Spector NYI are looking to move Mike York, for me he would be more interesting with his speed, then Craig Conroy are...

we would have to get York as part of a 3 way deal because there is no way that the Fishies will trade him here.

Can't say that I got a feel for what NYI would or wouldn't do.

But you mean that they wouldn't even dump a player to us?

We could always sling them Rachunek the other way. I can understand em not trading Luongo here or something a while back, but Mike York is a guy they want to get rid of, its not like if NJD where forced to move Scott Gomez for example, he is a asset who they wouldn't want a few miles away, while York would be a salary dump.

Again though, right now I have no clue what they would or wouldn't do...

We need a center bad, this team is so weak up the middle. Nylander masquerading as a number 1 is bad enough, but Blair Betts #2 ugh. I think Conroy could give the Rangers something similar to what Rucchin gave last year, probably better, but I think he has a year or two left on the contract and because of that I wouldnt take him.

Actually I think the Center position is this teams biggest problem. The defense and Lundqvist will improve, but having Betts as the 2nd liner Center with Jason Ward and Ryan Hollweg center the 3rd and 4th lines is a huge problem. Since Renney won't give Immonen or Dubinsky or Moore a shot, they need to trade Rachunek for a Center ASAP.

You people don't want Conroy? You are nuts.

Craig Conroy instantly gives us two credible lines, a far better defensive minded forward unit, an upgrade in physicality, and valuable experience. If the asking price is Rachunek and a 3rd rounder he's already on his way here in my opinion.

Get it done Slats.

agreed, Iginla has not been the same since he left Calgary. There is a reason for that, very underrated player. Would help on the PK and Shanny would not have to play on the PK as much.

I'm sure Phoenix would trade Roenick if NYR were interested ...

JR's mouth on Broadway would be an interesting experiment ... although it probably wouldn't make the team much better.

Conroy is a perfect choice for Rachuneck and 3rd round pick.

He is a pretty good defensive player. Better than Cullen. Played with Iginla in Calgary and Demitra in LA. Don't see any problem for him to play with Shanahan. This will improve the offense and the defense.

Conroy is signed for next season.Cullen is signed for three more seasons.Nylander has a player option for next season.Do you really want to lock up three center spots for 2007-08 with three average sized centers?Where is Brandon Dubinsky going to play next season?

It's not. I'm as confused as you are at that statement.

And Rangerboy, who says that Cullen can't shift to play wing? He has that capability. Remember these conversations about our interchageable parts type of team?
