4th line players blues

Marcel Hossa ... Season avg. 8:39 ice time/game, No points, - 7
Colton Orr ... Season avg. 3:49 ice time/game (3 games), 1 fight
Blair Betts ... Season avg. 15:09 ice time/game, 48% faceoff wins

... Although Hollweg has no points so far, what he does for the Rangers can not be measured in stats: ENERGY

Betts is overrated... Yes I said it...

One of Immo, Duby could do his job and probably more... Especially with the amount of ice time he's getting... 15 min a game?!?!?

How is Betts overrated? I don't think anyone is overrating Betts.

Maybe in the second line center role and it's still a maybe. What's unfair about looking at this ice time is not even for a SECOND mentioning Betts penalty killing time..

No way in a million years could Immonen or Dubinsky take THAT time away from Betts...

Maybe if he HAD a fight it might change things a little for him though... good suggestion!

I'd love to see Hossa lay someone out. It'd make my day.

If you hate Hossa so much trade him to L.A for Armstrong, have a lot of tissue thought, Armstrong will make you cry

I cry everytime I hear someone say the name "Marcel"...

...Betts is not overrated, not by a long shot. If he had players other than Orr or Hossa on his side, he'd do better.

Listing Betts as fourth line...too bad he's our 2nd line center...

The Rangers NEED another Top 6 player...as well as fixing the already obvious defensive problem...maybe they should concentrate on that first

Even though Hossa hasn't had the offensive stats to show it, I think he has looked much better than last season. He seems to be starting to use his size and strength and is winning puck battles along the boards. I think he has had some really good scoring chances also, but he just hasn't burried one yet. Right now I think Renney wants to see the effort from Marcel game in and game out and figures eventaully the scoring will come.

He has been the 2nd line center for a few games now. I like Jorts nickname for him since it fits, no offense Betts.

whenever Betts on a breakaway I know the goalie will stop it. At least Jason Ward has better hands and skills than Betts.

I agree Radek

On Hossa's play this year.

Plus he's done some solid work on the PK which is something they don't use Dawes for.
Personally i think thats one of the major if not only reason they continue to play him.
But hes got to start putting some points up, he does play offense.

you guys forget things way too easily

betts is a good fourth/third line center, i take last year's full season (well full for him) into account more than the 10 or so games this year.. just like with lundqvist etc

They certainly do not need a top 6 forward. A top 6 dman would help though.

SoS...

the problem with Betts isn't Betts - it's Sather. He went into the season without a second line center and now a guy like Shanahan is in a checking role, instead of an offensive role. They've been good defensively, but I don't think Betts has a point since (he still has one goal, one point in ten games). Could Immonen fill his shoes? Absolutely not. Can Betts still play on the PK while being a fourth liner? Yes. Should Immonen be playing at ES with Shanny? Absolutely not. This team doesn't have a first line center and only has Nylander as a second line center.

I'm just curious who you think the top 6 forwards on this team are.

That is actually one really hard question. There are checkers on scoring lines and no real #1 center, some promising players are underperforming and the actual lines change every game. What do the diehards on this board think?

Jagr, Nylander, Straka & Shanahan are locks...

The last two... Prucha and Cullen/Hall/Ward??? You tell me.
