In 1927, Cherry was told, Elizabeth Graham of Queen's University - where Muller coached last year - was the first goaltender in hockey known to have worn a mask.

"Interesting, but that's college," Cherry said, arching an eyebrow. "And I don't know anything about college."

Cherry has spent a lot of time in the U.S. and Americans use term "college" for a university and "Community College" for a college.

I also agree. But that's ok. Maybe Cherry won't almost start to cry again the next time the Habs destroy the Leafs

Cherry always mentionned his love for Bonk when he was in Ottawa too. It never made sense to any of us fans.

I concluded that Cherry had Bonk confused with another player.

I don't think that's quite correct. Americans do use "college" for both colleges and universities (the difference being that universities can award advanced degrees as well as baccalaurate degrees). By contrast, community colleges usually offer two-year programs that award certificates but not baccalaureate degrees. Some students apply to colleges or universities after they have completed two years at a community college. Often they go this route for economic reasons. Community colleges customarily charge modest tuition fees. Also, students can save on room and board by living at home while taking courses. Finally, community colleges generally permit part time attendance, so that students can hold a job while going to school.

He seems tolike players with grit. He should love Rivet cause that is all he has to offer. But lots of it.

To be fair to Cherry, he was only off by 15 years. Queens changed it's name from Queens College at Kingston to Queens University at Kingston in 1912. More info, if anyone is interested:

http://qnc.queensu.ca/Encyclopedia/Queen_s_Encyclopedia_H/queen_s_encyclopedia_h.html#HistoryofQueen's

Furthermore, the league the women played in at the time was called the Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Union, which does imply it being a college league.

I'm also fairly certain that at the time the words College and University were synonymous.
