Langfield up, Vermette down

The Sens have recalled Josh Langfield and demoted Antoine Vermette.

Not a bad short-term move. Obviously Muckler is still thinking the team can cure their ills from within (which is good), but Langfield deserves a shot at showing off his game given his performance in Bingo this year.

I'm not fond of the move, I'm all for bringing up Langfield but I wish it would have been for someone else. With all our under-acheivers this season, Vermette has played his ass off and for what? To get sent down because the rest of the team is sucking the tit. They should have sent Van Allen down, he is doing absolutely nothing except taking stupid penalties, he would clear waivers. The disadvantages of being a rookie.

Lets see what he can do - his numbers are much better than last year, and the reports from fanhome by a couple of the Bingo guys seem to paint him as a much better player than last season (regular season).

I think Vermette has had to go down as not to screw Bingo over.

I'm a big fan of Tony V but he reminds me of a big puppy. You know, a puppy will run around your house like a maniac, running into things and generally slamming headfirst into walls and doors and other family members.

The puppy is cute as hell to watch, but after a while you just kinda wish that he'd settle down and join the rest of the family.

I thought he was DEAD at least twice already, first vs. Columbus when he got checked into the open bench door and again Sunday night vs. Holik's (Lindros'?) crosscheck. Each time he just got up, shook his head and bounced back to the bench.

Oh to be 21 again.

I think the Sens decided to go with some size over Vermette and I agree that Vermette's trip to Bingo is probably an equalizer to compensate for Langfeld's loss down there, plus we only keep a 23 man roster here so something had to give. I was wondering why they weren't giving Langfeld a chance instead inserting Hnidy as the 4th RW. I guess that experiment didn't work all that well on Sunday. Good to see Langfeld here, I hope he turns into our version of John LeClair at Wing (wishful thinking but what the heck).

I didn't like Lindros' hit from behind on Vermette. I see Eric is picking on people his own size. Goofball.
