I think Ontario should have a team and maybe BC while we're at it. Hell why not just every province throw a team in there.

maybe you can help me out, what entitles people to a "nation-claim"? what's the criteria? where does it come from?

Well, first you have to be a Red Sox fan to understand.

So what?

Nova Scotia Lawyer: "Quebec should not have a team at 2008 Worlds".

Link: this post.

Edit: I'm calling a press conference right now to make it official. More to come.

I wonder how many separatists under 18 who are actually good will be around to stock that team.

I have a hard time believing that anyone in Quebec who wants a legit shot at the NHL will turn down Team Canada just to play for team Quebec.

In a nutshell:
- Distinct society
- Different value
- Different language
- No access to a constitution.

Flame away the need of a secession if you want but the cause they are engaged into is pretty legitime.

The bolded one doesn't make any sense.

It's the world hockey championships, not the world juniors. But what that means is that basically any French player who has already played for Canada would be ineligible because of the IIHF rules.

Really? That would weaken our team a lot... Wouldn't make much sense to have a team if that's true.

It already doesn't make that much sense right now. Once we seperate (if we ever do) we will get a team, but to me trying to get a team before becoming a country is just a way to annoy everybody and create useless conflicts. There will be players who won't want to play for Québec, and it's their right. And there will be players who want to play for Québec but then will they get selected to play in the Canadian Olympic team, and will they be booed in Vancouver, and whatnot. Useless controversy.

Pierre Dagenais would be available.

Just an other excuse to take shots at Quebec.

We do it to ourself enough we don't need your help.

OOh wonderful.
I already prepared their jerseys:

Edit: Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland sent contingents to UEFA and FIFA cups. That is allowed. They're not eligible for Olympics though. This could work.

F the seperatists. You have no idea what it's like to even be around some of those morons.

Everybody is frikkin distinct from each other. That's what makes the world so great. In quebec, that's a bad thing.{well at least to the seperatists) Their real reason to seperate is that they just dont like being the secondary language in this country, and im sure a bit of prejudice is involved. They just cloak it with all that BS that poster above tried to tell you.

There really is no good reason to seperate, and if they ever did, they'd realize what a mistake it truly was.

There is nothing but politics to the topic, doesn't belong on the NHL board.

This has already been tried.
250 years later, we're still going strong my friend.

For those who asked why we wanted to get out of that country, I think you got the answer from this thread...

If Quebec gets a team, I will write a letter to every hockey faction and get the news out that Alberta needs a team.

We are as distinct as Quebec. And personally, they should change hosts if that is the case because the WCs were awarded to CANADA, not Quebec.

Cheers to you Guy.
