game story: an overplayed and tired Conklin puts up a bad performance. Marchant pulls the identical deke to his game 7 winning one against Dallas for the game winning goal, then gives Lowe a good old fashioned rasberry in passing.
Conklin deserves a rest after the week he's had. I don't see the Oil having alot of options. They cant expect him to play back to back and perform. Salo was overworked as well. Valiquette should get a shot.
4-1 Oilers; Dvorak (has the hot hands), Smyth, Brewer, Stoll. CLM; Sanderson.
We'll also hopefully see Semenov, who will get an assist. And fights Shelley to prove to MacT that he ain't no Russian push over and that not playing him was a very bad mistake . Right after that Ferguson scores a hat trick.... Alright its getting very late.
Valiquette starts they'll want Conklin rested to play against Detroit and Colorado. Either this or he will play seeing as he's had 3 days rest. I hope to see Valiquette tho.
Oates starts against Detroit for sure he too I think wouldn't want to start with back to back games.
This game could go two ways, the Oilers can show charachter and go out and win or just spiral downwards after that defeat in the Classic. I think Brewer will be huge tonight to make up for the blunder in the Classic, York and Dvorak will continue to be impressive and I would think that one of them including Torres would net a goal. The Moreau-Smyth-Pisani line i don't think will do anything get Oates in here quick so Smyth gets off that line and Stoll will pick up an assist when Hemsky sets up Semenov.
Also Ferguson didn't look THAT bad in the Classic so i'd say that bergie or cross sit for semenov IF semenov plays tonight.
I guess it is takeout pizza night. This game starts too early, 5 o'clock on Sportsnet. Todd Marchant and Ryan Smyth are my favorite veteran players and Jarret Stoll and Rick Nash are two younger player i like to watch. My prediction is Oilers 3 - Columbus 2. I hope Ty Conklin plays and does well too.
I will be very interested how this line does tonight if MacT doesn't screw it up after the 1st
Same here. If nothing else I think it's a low risk experiment. Stoll seems very capable defensively for his age, so he shouldn't hurt the Oilers in that regard. It's pretty much a reward for his early efforts...he DOES have 4 goals in only 8 games of barely 11 minutes per night.
I think Horcoff will do well where he's IMO more comfortable, he plays well w/ Laraque and Chimera.
I think that there is GREAT potential for a Stoll/Hemsky/Isbister line. Stoll has really had a nose for the net with all the rebounds, and with Hemsky's ability to move the puck - and Izzy's ability to take it to the net hard that could be a lethal combo!
