I mean do you think the team will try to retain Hartnell, Kariya and Timonen?
These three guys could be really interesting on the market. What kind of deal do you think they're going to be seeking?
Hartnell will make some cash. He's the Pred I hope most to see come back. I think he goes to the highest bidder. Hopefully, its us.
Kariya is the face of the franchise, a fan favorite, and up until about a month and a half ago, produced steadily. I think a quiet guy like him fits well in Nashville. I think he'll get a raise and be back.
This might just be me, but I wouldnt mind seeing Timonen take a walk. He's going to get some big bucks, and we have similar defenseman to the game he plays. Take the money he was going to get, and throw it at the biggest, nastiest d-man out there.
Of course, JMHO.
I dont think wholesale changes are needed. Nabby standing on his head + no discipline = talented team playing golf too early. Lets get a veteran D-man to calm the kids down + healthy Sully and Erat and I still think were ready for a run next April.
On the other hand, I'd like to see Hartnell and Timonen kept(with a defenseman signed\traded for to take some pressure off and let him play fewer minutes against lower lines) and Kariya let walk.

Strange but Craig Rivet might be the solution for the veteran d-man you're talking about...
When I think about Hartnell, I'm seeing about 4M$. Is is about right?
Since both names were mentioned, Rivet and Hannan are both UFA's. Rivet has been unabashed in his joy at being in San Jose and having a good role in a city that doesnt criticize his every single mistake. He said this week, he'd like to stay "if the team would have him."
Hannan hasn't said a thing but has been in SJ his whole career. If the Sharks win the Cup, I would see him deciding that a goal of his was reached, and he will go to the highest bidder. This would be his year to take care of his family. If a team offers him $5.5MM over 4-5 years, the Sharks wont be able to sign him. And I think someone will offer him that money. He is durable, tough, a proven commodity, and a leader. He is just the player that many teams would want for their #1 Dman.
J.P. Dumont is amazing. Do not trade him. Dumont, Erat, and Sullivan are underated and well worth whatever they want. Build the team around them. As a Sharks fan I am more than afraid of a Nashville team who has those 3 healthy. Next year I wish you the best of health and not to meet you in the 1st round!!
Apart from Vokoun, Dumont was the best Preds player in the series, IMO. I never really thought he was that good of a player in Buffalo, but he impressed the heck out of me in the series against the Sharks.
