What a terrible team. Detroit could pretty much do anything they wanted all night long.

Yeah, they pretty much manhandled them all night long. Won all the loose pucks and controlled the flow so much that LA could only dump and change whenever they cleared the zone.

What happened to that LA squad that came into the BOB a couple weeks ago and beat us? Guess we're not getting any favors.

Vancouver goes into San Jose and wins in OT 2-1 ... and Edmonton gets absolutely OWNED by the Ducks 5-1

The Ducks have more grit than the Oilers.

Really, we didn't realize the team that has the most fighting majors in the league and is constantly trying to run our skill players in our meetings with them didn't have more grit than the Oilers who've been a total pushover since trading Ryan Smyth at the deadline.

Personally loved seeing Brad May maul Brad Winchester from behind last night in the third period.

The Kings did control the 1st period, lead for most of the game and got a point out of it all. That didn't help the Preds, no, but the Kings didn't play that poorly. We're talking about the worst team in the conference who kept one of the best on their toes, and did it without Kopitar and Blake.

Detroit scores, pressing hard...5-3

Boston comes down and scores again, to pad the lead again 6-3.

Wings played their worst home game of the season. It was horrible. He really need to get some healthy bodies back because it's killing out defense:

RW Johan Franzen (upper body)
D Daniil Markov (upper body)
RW Todd Bertuzzi (back)
LW Henrik Zetterberg (back)
RW Daniel Cleary (knee)
RW Tomas Kopecky (collarbone)

Samuelsson and Holmstrom are back, but this team is struggling with Andreas Lilja playing a regular shift and a 4th line of AHLers. I just want to watch a Wings/Preds game where BOTH teams actually can field an NHL-quality roster with all these combined injuries we both have.

Well, you'll get to see the Preds a little bit more healthy, at least...Forsberg is back...and it looks like we'll get Sullivan back, as well

With the Wings losing, it is imperative that we split the home/home. If we somehow managed to sweep the two games, we would be in an excellent position to finally capture the division.

Thank you Bruins!

On a side note - Tim Thomas is enormously fun to watch. He gives up about 50 rebounds a game, but his saves are always of the highly acrobatic variety.

Anyone catch Alberts knocking off the goal right before the puck crossed the line. Brilliant!

It's like I always say, a Wings lose is just as good as a Preds win!

Even though the Wings lost, you can just see how much better of a team they are than Calgary...they are probably the most fluid team in the NHL. Is there a better team than the Detroit Red Wings at executing their system?

They play a damn fine Puck Possession game.
You cant lay back at them and let them enter your zone under control.

I think against them it is important to have the forwards play a high pressure backcheck. something like a 2-1-2. laying back and sending 1 forward only works to their advantage i believe

Actually, the proven way to beat the Wings is to dump it in to Lidstrom and pressure him into passing it to his partner. That player then gives up the puck more often than not. Last year it was Lilja. Lately, both Kronwall and Markov have been awful. Alternately, you can rely on the clutch-and-grab style which for some reason is never called in the playoffs when Detroit plays any team from Canada.....

Speaking of the Wings, Cleary is playing tonight and Bertuzzi either tonight or Saturday. Zetterberg is still at least a week or two away. Once Zet comes back, things should be interesting again.

Osgood starting in net tonight against the Jackets.
