Big D-men - that's the ticket. I'll take either one.

I wouldnt mind the blues taking a first round forward. Who was the last one we selected? Reasoner? I think the results would be better with jarmo at the helm. And reasoner isnt really that bad of a pick for that years draft.

I think the blues will stick with taking the best available player.

As long as it's not a goaltender, that's fine with me.

I don't know if I'd want to see them take a goalie in the first round, but some of these guys look pretty good from where I sit...

Wojtek Wolski won't be around when the Blues pick.

I'm gonna go down and see Justin Peters play sometime next week... I want to see what all the fuss is about.

Taffe? He seems to be taking a while to come around, just as Reasoner did, but they seem to think highly of him in Phoenix.

I would like to see the Blues take the best player available but it would thrill me if they could get a high end left winger. It seems like something we may need. I think we should always draft Dmen since we are pretty good at churning them out but I think another forward with decent size and scoring ability would do us good. It looks like from what I've seen on this site that we are doing pretty good with our current crop of forwards but I just figure that it would be nice to get a high end left winger prospect.

Anybody have information on these guys other than being huge, I would like to know if they have a hard shot and have what it takes to run the PP. But I do agree can't have too much Big D.

Danis is a very talented goaltender but is everyone forgetting BU's record breaking goaltender Sean Fields? Kid's got talent and personally I feel is better than Danis.

Thanks, I'll have to check out Fields. Has he been drafted by anyone or is he a free agent?

Taffe was the last pick in that first round.

Wow, your right i could have sworn he was a 2nd rounder. Look at this draft year:

30 C Jeff Taffe
65 R David Morisset
75 C Justin Papineau
96 D Antoine Bergeron
129 F Troy Riddle
167 D Craig Weller
229 L Brett Lutes
261 G Reinhard Divis
293 D Lauri Kinos

Not bad considering it was part in getting us tkachuk(taffe), mellanby(morisset), Osgood(papineau). And that still leaves us with Riddle and divis as standouts.

He went undrafted and is a FA... like Danis will probably sign for the rookie max.

Here's some info on some of the more intriguing Euro prospects.

God bless the Finnish Ice Hockey Association; they provide more stats on all their players, at every level, than any other Euro league. The Swedes, Slovaks and Czechs do a good job, too, but they're a little harder to find, especially the Slovaks and Czechs. Swedish junior leagues are tough to find also, but the Elitserien and Allsvenskan (second league) are easy to get to.

Just looking at stats this year, Fields seems to be struggling while Danis is unbelievable.

This kid Danis has had an amazing career at Brown. I can't believe no one drafted him. Sure would be great if the Blues sign him.

Someone on another board ran a 2004 mock draft (first one!) and had the Blues selecting goalie Marek Schwarz in the first round.

He's playing for the Czech team in the World Junior tournament.

Uh... no... that's not going to happen. People's knowledge of the Blues' farm system is quite limited.
