OT: Grey Cup Finals GDT: Montreal Alouettes vs. BC Lions

I know we have an Alouettes thread that has been made sticky for a while, but I have taken good judgement on this and have decided to honor them with their own GDT today as they battle the BC Lions for the Grey Cup. I'm no Habs911 so please bare with the opening post.

The BC Lions finished the regular season with the best record in the entire CFL at 13-5, and last won the Grey Cup in 2000.

Last week, in the Scotiabank West final, Paris Jackson hauled in two touchdown passes and Dave Dickenson saved his best for when it mattered, going 27-for-37 with 274 yards and three touchdowns, helping the Lions defeat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 45-18.
In the Eastern title game, Anthony Calvillo went 14-for-22 with 252 yards, one TD and one interception as Montreal tamed the Toronto Argonauts 33-24.

Robert Edwards rushed for 137 yards on 24 carries with one TD. Montreal went 10-8 during the regular season and have lost the last two Grey Cup finals.

It Comes Down to One Game.........ALS VS. LIONS

Some trends to consider:

Montreal is 1-4-1 OU in its last 6 games against the Toronto
Montreal is 1-4-0 ATS in its last 5 home games
Montreal is 3-7-1 ATS in its last 11 games
Montreal is 2-3-1 OU in its last 6 games
British Columbia is 5-0-0 SU in its last 5 games after scoring 21 to 30 points
British Columbia is 5-1-0 ATS in its last 6 games after scoring 21 to 30 points
British Columbia is 9-4-0 ATS in its last 13 games
British Columbia is 4-2-0 ATS in its last 6 home games

THE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

ALOUETTES
-Montreal has the third worst running game in the league at 97.4 yards per game.
-Montreal has the third-rated passing attack in the league at 269.7 yards per game.
-Montreal is third last in the league in committing turnovers with 2.1 per game.
-Montreal has the third worst run defence allowing 109.2 per game.

LIONS
-British Columbia is the highest scoring team in the league at 30.8 points per game.
-British Columbia lead the league in passing with 290.7 yards per game.
-British Columbia turn the ball over less than any team in the league with 1.3 per game.
-British Columbia has the second stingiest defence in the league at 19.7 per game.
-British Columbia is the third best defence against the pass allowing 237.5 per game.
-British Columbia lead the league in takehomes with 3.1 per game.

In previous 2 contests, They Lions have beat the Als in blowout fashion by victories of 48-13 & 36-20.

Players to Watch out For:
Als - Offensive Keys - QB Anthony Calvillo, RB Robert Edwards, SB Ben Cahoon, WR Kerry Watkins, OG Scott Flory

It will be a tough one. But I think the Als are gone win.

BC had it easy last week. The Riders was an easy pray, they didn't show up. Joseph is not a great QB. When he has an awsome game, they have a chance of winning and last week was just awful. Granted BC showed up for that game but it would have been a lot different if they would have played Calgary or Toronto. They probably would have won but not a massacre like what happened last week.

MTL needs to play an awsome game and every player needs to show up if we want a chance of winning. Unless BC stumbles big time.

MTL by 4

I'm a big Als fan and I REALLY hope they win but let's be realistic, BC are just too strong. Of course everything can happen in a game, but we musn't forget what happened in the past. BC always own us, plus Calvillo is a choker in important games, we don't use Robert Edwards enough, we always attempt stupid passes when we should run, our secondary is pretty weak and BC's air attack is killer.

Calvillo, Edwards and the defense will have to step up BIG time if we want to have a chance against BC. I hope it is a classic just like last year game was, GO ALS GO!

Advantage BC for sure in this one, but lets hope the ALS can get it done. I really like their defense and if the offence can put up the points they might be able to steal the game

The als went from unbeatable to losing all their games all of sudden at one point... Which version of the als is going to be on the field tonight?

Exactly.

Hopefully the Als can pull out a win, but as usual, I'm not going to get my hopes up.

I know there is supposed to be a performance from the most recent Canadian Idol. I don't know her name because I didn't follow the series. I'm assuming she's taking care of the anthem. The Half-Time Show will be performed by Nelly Furtado.

Anyone know if there's a place Als fans in Toronto are getting together to watch the game? Me and my friends just moved here a few weeks ago and we're dying to catch the game with a good crowd.

Looks like the ball is slipping out of Calvillo's hand early.

Déja vu.....

Sorry but for me it's over already.........

Calvillo is NOT a big game QB. Add this to the fact that the Lions are a much better team on every position except maybe the kicker.....
