Please Re-sign Souray

His shot is simply amazing and he doesn't have defensive cramps anymore. He is, with Komi, our best defensemen this year, and I seriously hope he stays.

Me too but I think he will leave...we can't keep both Souray and Markov at 4 or 5 M per year...

Yes we can, if we unload Kovalev, Niinimaa, Bonk and Aebisher

at 3.5 -> 4.5 each I think we could keep both ... Bonk would have to take a paycut, but it's not impossible ...

Leads all D-men in goals. I'd hate to see him go, he strikes fear into the hearts of penalty killers. He's like Al MacInnis, but not as good, and much sexier.

With Johnson, Plekanec, Lapierre, Chipchura and Bégin who can all play center on a defensive third line, do we really need Bonk ?

I don't know about his lack of defensive cramps really. Just tonight there was at least one major turnover by him that could cost us.

There was one that I saw (the St. Louis/Lecavalier chance) but then Perezhogin coughed it up and Souray saved his ***, so I figure he was even tonight.

Bonk's been fantastic this year. I would hate to see him leave. Don't know if Laps and Chips can replace him. Begin can't. There will be some tough decisions to be made.

Yeah, me too! These guys are playing great for us. Souray has a cannon on the point, Johnson is a good 2 way player, Markov has a great skill level and is solid in helping our transition game.

Well if Markov continues his average play for the remainder of the season he will not be getting anywhere near 5 mil.

I wouldn't mind seeing Souray stay, but not at $4-million. That's far too much for a powerplay specialist whose defensive game's been seriously damaged by the new rules.

Markov, on the other hand, will and should be gone if he continues this abysmal play. He's been absolutely awful thus far, and nowhere near the borderline top-10 guy that we all thought he was before this season.

Yes but if he plays bad it makes it easier to sign him money wise

Ill probably change soon enough though as Saku's eye is not the popular subject I thought it would be.

I think Gainey should focus on him almost as much as Markov. Souray is going to demand big money though, but I think he's worth it. He is fairly 1 dimensional, but I like how his defesive game has improved this year (probably out of embarrassment from last years highlight reel that he created). The good thing about him is that even if he only excels at one thing (PP), its probably one of the most useful things in the game today.

Plekanec in my mind is already better than Bonk, in every facet. One guy is going to make 1m$ the other is going to want something closer to 2m$..that'll be the deciding factor imo.

There was also the one where he tried a fancy backhand pass in neutral zone and gave it to Prospal who went in on Huet but took a weak shot.
