Boogaard

Do my eyes deceive me or is there no concern from Wild fans on this site for Derek Boogaard & to a lesser extent the Wild?

No gdt for the Wild/Coyote game. Sure the Coyotes are crap...although hopefully coming out of it...but the thought of Laraque/Boogaard alone is worthy of a gdt.

I was at the game & later saw the replays of Boogaard's leg while going down to the ice.

I was certainly rooting against him at that time, but am rooting for him now. I hope he is ok, but that looked pretty bad.

I just saw the clip. Didn't look too bad. Was it confirmed that he got injured? I want him to go head to head with Hordichuck tonight.

Funny, none of the responders to the post have Wild-related avatars either.

Forward Derek Boogaard sustained a leg injury while fighting Georges Laraque on Tuesday and has been ruled out of tonight's game. He will be re-evaluated when the team returns to the Twin Cities on Friday.

what does having a wild related avatar have to do with anything?

Boogaard will be missed, but with Gaborik being put on the IR, I wonder who they will call up tonight?

Why would they call anyone up? When did Gaborik go on the IR?

he got put on the IR today.

Gaborik (groin) was officially placed on injured reserve. The Wild say his injury isn't any worse and this is a procedural move to free up another roster spot, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Most of us really aren't that concerned, because it doesn't sound like a serious injury and he's a pretty tough kid. There's just no point in getting worked up over it or speculating on how bad it might be until we have more information.

As for the game day threads, we don't generally waste a lot of time with those. I've never seen the sense of it myself. If it's on TV, I'm watching the damned game, not sitting in front of my computer. I think most Wild fans are pretty much the same way.

The majority of the internet fans who participate in gameday threads do so over on the wild.com boards, so having one here is mostly pointless, unless it's for other teams' fans to post in, and those fans can start one if they want.

Derek Boogaard has an ankle injury and will not accompany the team to Ottawa and Montreal. Boogaard was hurt during a fight with Phoenix's Georges Laraques on Tuesday night. He will be re-evaluated later this week. - Pioneer Press

I was referring to the opening post, which stated, "Do my eyes deceive me or is there no concern from Wild fans on this site for Derek Boogaard & to a lesser extent the Wild?"

It just further emphasizes that most posters in the Wild thread aren't posting frequently in this forum. That's what the Wild-related avatar comment referred to.

I hope Boogy is OK. He has definitely "evolved" into a nice player, to go along with his pugilistic ways. Even saw some PP time...

Meh to the GDT's, I too like to watch the game instead of posting the usual in game stuff like:

"Nice play by Demitra! Yay!"

or

"Oooh! Close call! Manny looks great today! Yay!"

I guess we're not too exciting here...

Many fans can only watch or follow the game online. Or they have a TV in the same room. Hence its pretty easy to have a GDT, compared to leaving the comfort of your armchair.

well the folks who post here...the rubes on the wild.com boards got like 90 page gameday threads.

then they all piss and moan about petty stuff.

We're very fortunate in the Cities in that almost every game is televised locally, but you're right, when the game's not on, the GDT is your only lifeline. But when the game is on, I'm going to be watching the TV screen, not the monitor. My TV's just on the other end of the living room/office space, but I can only be looking at one or the other at any given time. Since the game's happening on the TV, that's the one I'm looking at. To me, much of the appeal of hockey is that it happens at such a lightning fast pace. Dividing your attention between the TV and the computer means you'll miss a hell of a lot of the little details that make up a game. I just don't see the value of it, myself.

Well, most of those people aren't hockey fans. They're idiots who have no life and the IQ of a rock. All they know about the game is that "Shultz sux - no he deosnt! Yes he does! no he d\oesn'! Yes he does! No, he's got nice hair!"
