They obviously fell for his "I have 18 points and am +7 in the AHL - surely I can translate that to the NHL" trap...I hope the Habs are paid up on the insurance policies for their goalies.

Unless they play Vancouver soon, and then it's a good move. Luongo's guaranteed to be knocked out of goal with Biron playing.

Former (briefly) Panther defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh has been placed on waivers by the Rags...

Islanders trade Mike York to Philly for Randy Robitaille and 5th rounder in 2008 (obviously done before the Holiday trade freeze and announced today).

Ducks, anyone? They've lately seen injuries to both goalies (Giguere, Bryzgalov), two of their top 4 defensemen (Pronger, Beauchemin), and one forward (okay, I forgot who).

They might get healthy for the playoffs, but I think the Ducks are about to come crashing to ground after flying high all season.

Are you saying that the Ducks aren't all they were quacked up to be?

Edmonton Oilers and NOT the rumored Ottawa Senators, pick up Petr Nedved off re-entry waivers, responsible for half his salary (the rest to Philly). http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=190567&hubname=nhl

Supposedly Nedved will not be there in time for tonight's game and I'd be shocked if he was, even with the time zone changes.

Also..quacked up to be? Fo shame, treefrog. That's just plain Daffy.

Senators acquire Mike Comrie from the Coyotes in exchange for Alexei Kaigorodov, a Russian prospect who wound up not playing for them and likely never would again. Who knows if he even will for Phoenix, likely a steal for Ottawa.

Stupid move by Phoenix. At least a few teams, including Chicago, Rangers, and Toronto would have offered them more. See, fellow Panthers fans, we are not that bad off!!!!!!

Chris Chelios is out after a double murder at his Cheli's bar in Detroit of the manager (I guess a family friend) and a cook.

No link due to Yahoo! getting its tags screwed up, but it's on the Wings board.

EDIT: Got a link

Roberto Luongo was voted the starting goalie for the Western Conference All-Stars.

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/h...ports-panthers

Crosby and Ovechkin are there from the East (Crosby beats Jagr as the youngest player ever voted as a starter by six months), with three Sabres (first time a team has had three starters voted in since balloting began 21 years ago).

That's the highlights.

Does that count as slandering an NHLer? Ah, well - it's hard to argue with so I guess I can't consider it such

It's interesting that the trash could take itself out...

Don't be ridiculous, that's not slander. In print, it's libel.

Haha, go Hagman. Maybe he's finally learned to stop hitting every post he can find. Can't imagine that the 7th rounder we got will ever see the NHL.

Performance-wise, I don't know if pressure was really the issue with him here. I don't think any less is expected of him in Dallas than when he was in Florida.

However, I'm sure playing for a successful organization with a solid plan has relieved him of the stress of never having to worry who his boss is one week to the next, or what direction the franchise is veering off course to.

If they're around next season We don't play the Rangers for the rest of the season.
